Jessica I was sad to see this one go! The hand is from Boo Davis (Billstein) from her quilt "Bangover" (a heavy metal music fan herself!). The background is a traditional log cabin quilt (with red center). The black and white fabric is from a collection called "Pen and Ink".

I have been fearing those two inner mitered corners on that tiny 2" x 2" space...I am finally over the hard part...it all makes sense now. I am going to cut the triangles behind those mitered corners and will iron the resulting slimmer seams open and then cut off the dog ears...the pieces that stick out, not real dog ears It's going to look so cool

This is a much more personal post than most... For those who are not aware, I recently traveled to Kapuskasing, Ontario to help attend to my grandma, June Nadon, at the Sensenbrenner hospital hospice room. Last Saturday the 20th of February she passed peacefully in her sleep. She was quite a fiesty and incredible lady (she drove a taxi in her 70s just to keep busy!) and she will be dearly missed by many. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to remember her and to offer t...heir condolences. A few days after arriving back home water began leaking from the light fixture above our kitchen sink due to ice damming on our roof. Someone from insurance was by today and we're still waiting to hear about what's going to happen next. Needless to say, we spent the weekend clearing ice and snow from 1/2 of our roof (thank you to my very handy husband). Unfortunately, all of this means that I have had to put quilting on hold for the last few weeks. Those who know me know how terribly sad this is since quilting is the food that feeds my soul. It was a thrill to be able to get back into it this evening while we wait for warmer weather to complete the ice/snow removal on the 2nd half of our roof. With all of this is mind, I'd like to take a moment to thank the lovely lady commissioning my current project because without her generous patience and understanding these past few weeks, this could have been a much more stressful time for me. It is people like her that I am so grateful for in the world. People like my friend Amanda who today gave me a little "nothing", as she calls it, but that nothing is a big something to me. A trinket of sewing. Also my friend Jennifer who sent me a bear to hug during my time of loss (that our pooch Charlie believes should belong to him, such a silly boy) and my friend Mireille who stocked our freezer with some delicious homemade food. I am so very lucky indeed. I have included some pictures of the last few weeks; my grandma, the roof, the trinket, Charlie eyeing the bear and the very awesome quilt that I have been working on! I hope that everyone is taking care, of yourself and your loved ones, during these challenging times. Thank you for reading.

Arianna's quilt I soooooo enjoyed getting to see these young ladies unwrap their quilts! Hurray!!! The backing from Kiana's quilt is the binding on Arianna's quilt and vice versa.... Thank you to Jessica for picking such wonderful colours!
