PLEASE SHARE THIS POST I’d love to have this post reach as many eyes as possible so people can see what the It’s Okay Not To Be Okay Canada family is doing. It...’s a family effort and I look forward to increasing our numbers and donation output. 6 TVs dropped off. They use these TVs on carts with gaming systems to help make the lil ones stay a little more bearable.

Suzanne Cunningham has dealt with depression and thoughts of suicide for much of her life. Depression, Cunningham says, is like you’re stumbling through the ...dark with a headlamp on, and you can only see one solution: ending the pain. But four years ago, she received the help she needed. Now she’s an AHS peer support worker, helping young adults in Edmonton who face similar struggles. Some think of suicide as a weakness, but I think of it as a symptom of a disease, something like brain cancer, she says. The depression is eating away at the brain until you can see no other option, other than suicide. That’s why she says it’s important to have open, honest discussions about depression and suicide, to normalize the conversation and reduce the stigma. By talking about suicide, she hopes others will discover hope and opportunities for help in their own lives. Recovery is possible. People can find meaning and purpose in their life. That’s important to know, not just for those who are suffering, but for those who are supporting those individuals, too, she says. They need to know that the world would be a lot less wonderful without them. If you or a loved one is struggling, please reach out. Support is available 24/7 through the AHS Mental Health Helpline at 1-877-303-2642 or call Health Link at 811. In an emergency, please dial 911 or go to your nearest Emergency Department. #WSAD #WorldSuicidePreventionDay

Find your safe space to heal. Trauma therapy is hard...so hard to do as it has you turn towards pain that we innately and instinctively avoid. Find that safe space with a qualified professional you trust, so you can turn toward the trauma, process and come back to your present. If you know someone actively working through their trauma; love them through it and let them lead as they heal. Find support for yourself if needed also! #healingaftertrauma #lifeaftertrauma

Made time to find my Zen again. Is a lot of stress in the works for everyone with all the differences of comfort zones and feelings around all the changes and school starting soon. We all need a break from it sometimes. Where do you find your break......I got mine here today with a hike with a couple supportive ladies. #Ptmarigancirque

This funny caught my funny bone. You may not play dead but... you may stonewall or shut down in an effort to defuse conflict or because your emotions are so high it feels overwhelming. Antidote to stonewalling: self soothe first and foremost and utilize soft start ups using "I" statements to help your partner understand your feelings. I have also added the easy to use Speaker- Listener guide to form your dynamic duo. More to read on Psychcentral Blog: https://psychcentral.com//stonewalling-how-you-can-cure-it/

So easy to fall into problem solving or cheering up as we don't want to see our partner upset or we ourselves are uncomfortable with unpleasant emotions... My Gottman marriage by the minute daily email shared this today. It is originally from an Instagram post from Redefining Our Womanhood. However, the following is helpful check ins and reminder for self compassion for ALL. Four questions to check in with yourself: How can I give myself permission to accept joy in moments of sorrow?... What are ways I can cultivate stillness into my daily life? Have I been moving the negative energy out of my body? How can I tend to my vessel? How can I honor my anger? Self-care is important, especially in times of collective overwhelm. If you aren’t tending to your own experience with awareness, it’s harder to connect with and love others. What does self-care look like for you? How can you create time for yourself to take stock? If you are undertaking the work of confronting your own biases, how can you do that with self-compassion?

Great mini read, sometimes we have to get ourselves into a better space to be able to truly listen and be present.
