Another day, another layer. I don’t even recognize my work right now but using simple shapes to study variations in saturated and desaturated colour make the practice much easier to grasp. #cvp2021 #saturatedcolors #complementarycolours #contrastsinart #torontoartist #torontoart #studyingart
Working in a series enables one piece to inform the next. Around and around these have gone in studies on value and design. This week, we focus on colour saturation, harmony, temperature and complements. Some of what you see here may remain but a lot will be covered up by new layers of paint. Who knows where they’ll end up?
Limited (Zorn) palette explorations in design and value using a variety of shapes and layering to create depth and contrasts. #cvp2021 #acrylicpainting #squarefootpaintings #zornpalette
Never stop playing! Play is an amazing opportunity to learn when we stay open and curious. Messing with some collage and mark making this afternoon. My art practice is always expanding with no end in sight. Wish I had gessoed the paper before adding these bits but I could hardly wait to start and if you know me well, you know patience isn’t my strong suit! #collageart #play #creativity #neverstopexploring #neveratoplearning #blues #markmaking
Several more layers of paint and collage figures from a ballet of Othello (1949) brought this piece to a mixed media figurative piece with an abstracted ground. 12x12 acrylic, charcoal and paper birch ply board. #valuestudy #cvp2021 #figurtiveart #mixedmedia #mixedmediaart #balletphotography #ballet #othello #torontoartist
