The ICTY is winding down this year, with the resolution of Ratko Mladic’s trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity. William Fenrick, former military lawyer and legal adviser in the ICTY Prosecutor’s office, reflects on the ICTY’s origins, its effectiveness, and its legacy with respect to international humanitarian and criminal law.
