Jerry's Appliance Repair 10.10.2020

Hey Folks, due to an emergency I have to close today and reschedule my booked calls. I'll be in touch with my customers asap. My apologies for the inconvenience.

At this point, until the situation in the province improves, and we receive directive from the Premier and Nova Scotia Health Authority, Jerry's Appliance Repair will be suspending all non emergency in-home service work. What this means is that unless you are completely without a Fridge/Freezer or Stove, I will not be able to assist you for the time being. Dryers, dishwashers, and other less severe issues will have to wait. We are desperately trying to get a hold on this Co...ronavirus spreading through our country, and with so many people returning from their March Breaks away, the risk for me to continue to visit house to house, from Hubbards to Liverpool and beyond is too great to my family AND yours. I'll level with you, I hate saying no to people. I do. So this isn't an easy decision, and after many phone calls from customers today inquiring if I would be continuing to work, some from people that are at high risk of exposure themselves, I thought it was time to advise my customers of this change. I will continue to do all I can to support the community as the situation unfolds. I will answer any questions you may have and will continue to update you on the state of the business as the days continue. Thank you Darren Lowe Jerry's Appliance Repair

Today I'll be taking the day off with my daughter. Especially in the noise of world events, a morning without the news on, without texts, tweets and various buzzes and alerts bombarding us, would do us well. I'm back at it tomorrow with a very cautious approach to "Business as usual" for the time being. As our health officials and government make announcements and recommendations on how to proceed, I will be following them to ensure the safety of my family, customers and co...mmunities. We are being asked to stay home. To self isolate, practice social distancing, and take precautions to avoid community spread. Your appliances need to be working to make it possible to stay home. I understand this and I will do my best to help. These are strange times, and we will, as a cooperative community, get through this and resume life as normal. Be well friends, Darren Lowe

Its time for a few PSAs from Jerry's Appliance Repair. As the holiday season rolls around, families come home to visit and household appliances get a little extra use. Over the next few days we will send out a few reminders for some home maintenance items to keep your appliances running efficiently and safely. Today's item: The Dryer... Most people already know to make sure your lint screen is cleaned of any lint or debris between dryer loads, but did you know that a build up of lint from your dryer's vent to the outside can not only possibly cause heating component failures, but also increases the risk of fire? Make sure your venting is clean, in good shape (not crushed or compromised) and that your vent outside is free of lint build or obstructions. A clean vent will ensure efficient drying which greatly reduces drying time and energy consumption. Take a look at the link below for signs you may be due for a cleaning. https://www.angieslist.com//10-signs-you-need-dryer-vent-c Happy Holidays from Jerry's Appliance Repair and stay tuned for tomorrow's tip to keep your appliances running efficiently in the new year!

In the wake of Hurricane Dorian, many residence of the South Shore experienced power outages and fluctuations from high winds and damaged power equipment. Some residences are still running on generators or have no power options. For the remaining days of this week, we will be prioritizing calls in the following manner: 1. Fridges/Freezers (dead or improper cooling) ... 2. Stove/Oven issues 3. Washers 4. Dryers 5. Dishwashers 6. Ice makers Given the fact that some customers have specific needs surrounding some of the appliances further down the list, this is just a guideline for the week. Please remain patient while we address as many customer needs as possible. As always, we appreciate your patience and wish you a speedy recovery from the aftermath of Dorian. 902 543 6126 Thank you Darren Lowe

This is a balloon. A balloon that was perhaps released during a celebration of a birthday, or an anniversary. Ultimately, a symbol of celebration or joy. The reason I'm sharing this is because this discarded balloon laying in the bottom of this boat represents something else. Hope. A quick story... ... Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of jumping on a small boat, which was meant to taxi me out to Bushen Island just off the mainland near West Dublin. My taxi driver for the day, a young man named Simon Bush. He takes care of a property for someone who lives away. He's a fisherman. Lobster, I believe. These waters and rocky shores he navigated provide for him and his family, and I could tell he respected that. A quick trip out, a quick repair on a leaking washer, and we were headed back to the mainland. As Simon guided us back along the shore to his family wharf, he pointed out a few sights. Baby geese with their mothers, who obviously had no trouble with our passing. We passed nice houses and cottages on the shore, and little coves where nothing but Mother Nature was present. It was in one of these small coves that we spotted something reflective catching the sun, and our eyes. I looked back at Simon and he had a look on his face. What he saw bothered him. We had already gone passed the cove, but knowing I was on a tight schedule, he looked at me anyway and said "Got 30 seconds?" "You bet!" I understood what he needed to do. Simon respects our waters. He feels a duty to do his part to protect them. He turned the boat around and in to the cove we went. This mostly deflated balloon, floated amongst the seaweed and rocks, where it would ultimately sink and disrupt an already suffering eco system. If not for Simon, and taking 30 seconds... Simon made a difference, and continues to do so. He inspired me by this seemingly small action. We all have 30 seconds to help our planet. Its worth our time. Thank you Simon!
