An interesting turn of events in class this week and I'll read a bit more from the manuscript

Volunteering! I'm working as a cashier at the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore one afternoon a week now. Last year I wasn't as impacted financially by the pandemic like many people and I got in the swing of making donations to non-profits. Then I thought, what about donating my time? Habitat for Humanity aligns so closely with my values. How empowering is that feeling when someone believes in you? Habitat sets people up for success; I'm amazed by the work... they do. We don't ask to be born... we are plunked into whatever circumstances we get and privilege distribution is varied, to put it lightly. Poverty is not a crime. This is also a pandemic mental wellness hack... this was 4+ hours of legit human interaction. If you're living on your own and are not immuno-compromised (so are comfortable interfacing on the front line) consider volunteering! Bonus: My shift is the same day as seniors day so all day it's the most adorablest old folks. So many octegenarians - one lady proudly told me that she's 84 and her husband here is 80 and I just wanted to hug them. Other bonus: Oops I love thrift stores. I'll put pics in my stories of what I find there.
