Waiting on a Zoom call surrounded by booze and child clutter....what are you up to this lovely Friday afternoon?

‘Twas the night before Kindergarten and all through the house not a creature was stirring... Except for this mama’s heart. My littlest little is starting school tomorrow and while she is SO ready and part of me is too...there’s another part of me who is having a mild identity crisis. For the past 7 years I have been a mother of wee ones. I have had a little one at home with me, and soon I won’t. I’m so excited about all the wonderful things that are on the horizon for her: n...ew friends, new experiences and fun. But there’s still that part of me who can’t believe that I am now a mama of big kids. It’s true what they say, the days are long (sometimes insanely so) but holy crap are those years just so short. You’re the best burger making, trampoline double bouncing, piggybacking, heavy lifting, ski teaching, Fort building, adventure creating, trailer hauling, thunder cookie giving, jiu jitsu move testing, giggle giving Daddy around. Yesterday was a great day. A very needed total recharge for our fam. We brought groceries to my father in law and took a responsibly distanced hike...it felt amazing. The change in scenery and time outdoors put us all in a better head space. We rounded out the day with a family hot tub (super relaxing as the girls played Mermaid the whole time ), a movie rental with popcorn, and then post kid bedtime we had friends over for a backyard fire. I’m trying hard to find joy in most days but I’m often struggling trying to find balance between getting work done and being present with the kids. SO thankful for yesterday which will probably be one of the day’s I will look back fondly on from this whole thing. How are you all holding up?
