I attended my first Jewski event in my first year of university where I was very shy and did not have a lot of friends. Going into university made me feel like a ghost since I had no friends and was trying to navigate the freshman year. I attended an event hosted by the Russian club on campus but I did not feel like I belonged since I grew up in Canada and my Russian was not the best. But I am glad I did attend the event because I met someone there who was a Jewski intern an...d told me about Jewski and I immediately got excited because I did not think Jewski was a thing. I went to a bagel lunch hosted at the Hillel lounge by the Jewski interns and it was amazing to learn about the club. I also spoke with the interns one on one who were down to earth and shared similar backgrounds and upbringings to me. We talked about Yeralash, a Russian comedy show, and wearing tapachki in the house. My favorite event was the Novi God Gala because I got to meet a lot of other Jewskis, dance to my favourite songs, eat lots of food, and drink as many drinks as I wanted. I loved going to Jewski events so much that I became a Jewski intern for York University in my second year and it was a lot of fun putting together my own events such as making crepes and hosting a tea and chill event. Even though I am no longer an intern for Jewski, I have made lifelong friends and memories that I am grateful for and I will always be a Jewski. I continue to go to Jewski events and stay in touch with friends from Jewski so thank you Jewski for showing me that I belong and for giving me a wonderful university experience. - Beta Fourmanovskis
