In light of the Facebook scandal issues, here's a couple of important settings to help. First off, I strongly recommend you do not answer surveys, play games or... anything else that requires you to log into Facebook. Is it really worth it? When you log in to those apps, you give it permission to access your personal information, photos, timeline and, along with that, the same personal information from any of your friends who don't specifically say not to. Sorry, but if you're my friend, you don't have my permission to share that information, so stay away from all those things. In order to ensure those apps don't have access to your Facebook information, go to Settings. From there, go to Apps and where it says "Apps, Websites and Plugins" click on that and disable the platform. That's the best way. But we all have friends who will insist on finding out what breakfast cereal they are, what they would look like as the other gender or spend all day playing Facebook games. So let's do what we can so they aren't sharing your information with those apps. Go to Settings. From there go to Apps. Under "Apps Others Use" click on Edit and remove the check mark from every box there. Does that keep your information safe? Not necessarily. Facebook needs to re-work their entire platform and should never have allowed the possibility of someone sharing personal information of others. So just make it your policy on Facebook, Twitter and anywhere else that you don't share any information that you don't want advertisers, politicians, scammers and everyone else to know. That's going to be the best way to stay safe online.
