October 10th is #WorldMentalHealthDay. and ACT2endracism has launched its #speakup campaign. Thanks, Jimmy Chan & the Chan Association for helping to distribute... masks to essential workers like Mr. Wong of Restaurant Maison Guang Zhou in Chinatown. Our Chinatown gates were vandalized earlier this year - like so many other Chinatowns across the country. Chinatown shops and restaurants are dealing with the double burden of surviving through the pandemic while also being unjustly stigmatized for it. Lets #supportchinatown and #speakup against racism. #chinatownyul #savechinatown

( Oct 7th Wednesday 2020 ) As all of you know, humbly, I am the President in two of the oldest "Chan" associations in Chinatown our Chinese community : "Chin ...Wing Chun Ton Association & Gee How Oak Tin Association. It's my responsibility to give my contributions to support our community, to give my "VOICE" to our City of Montreal on behalf of our Chinese community Chinatown. I have donated my time, effort and energy as a volunteer for 30 years in our community. Especially the past five months taking care of the elders by bringing them food and medicine to keep them safe inside their Chinatown building. Today after work in CAE, I continued my weekly effort spending some time in our Montreal Chinatown talking with some of the merchants in our community to see how everyone is doing the week after the restaurants dinning room shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic second wave. I collected enough info will be holding a community press conference soon. I am in Chinatown at least one or two times per week for the past six months taking care of the elderly and whoever requests my help as my volunteer mission. I am there for our community to do what I can to help with our community's needs. Like cheering up everyone in great faith, It is difficult as there are no more tourists visiting Chinatown this year, no office workers and students eating in the dinning room before or taking out due to they are all working at home. Beside all that, all the community annual association's festival banquets and wedding banquets all have been cancelled this summer and the rest of the year. I took my time to speak with the restaurant owners to make sure everyone is in good faith. To give them positive visions things will get better for better days will come. To encourage them our City of Montreal, our government is supporting our community. It's very emotional when everytime I speak with the restaurant owners and workers the difficult time they are all going through, I am doing what I can to keep our community standing strong! So my friends, whenever you are hungry, and you are close by to Chinatown, come support our Chinatown restaurants. By doing that, you are making a difference in adding great hope to our Chinatown restaurants survival!!! Thank you all for all of your great hearts!!! I will for sure stop and say "Hi" to you when I do see you in our Chinatown!!!

I regularly visit my community in Chinatown to make sure all the businesses and restaurants are doing okay during the pandemic. COVID-19 has hit the Chinatown community especially hard due to racial connotations associated with COVID-19. The lack of traffic and tourists in Chinatown has caused many of the businesses to suffer. I regularly come to Chinatown to help out with my community and the business owners. With the second wave underway, restrictions are becoming more stri...ct and it is becoming even harder for the businesses in Chinatown to sustain themselves. I regularly do what I can to support the businesses and make sure the owners are in good spirits. As the president of the Chan Associations in Montreal, I also check up on the elders who reside in the Chan Association building, buying them food and supplies so they don't have to go out and expose themselves to contagions. While I'm in Chinatown, I try to promote the businesses, encouraging others to come support the restaurants and stores in Chinatown. At the same time, I also hand out free masks to people in the area who are not protecting themselves. As a lifelong volunteer and humanitarian, I will continue to step up and do my part to support essential workers and the community! Together, we will defeat the invisible enemies and return to our normal daily lives. In the meantime, we all must do our part respecting social distancing and restrictions and protecting ourselves and others by wearing masks and washing our hands. Stay tuned for more updates!
