German pancakes or Dutch Baby pancakes are baked in a metal or cast iron pan. The eggs, milk, flour, and vanilla are mixed, then poured into the hot pan with melted butter. They puff up in the oven and then fall as they cool. Top it with syrup, or, if you're more traditional, squeeze a fresh lemon and sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
