Ontario Business Support Grants On November 16th, eligible businesses in the Ontario red zone can apply for property tax and energy bill grants to help with these fixed costs. Also, Ontario small businesses can also apply for $1,000 of support for personal protective equipment (PPE). Property Tax & Energy Bill Rebates Eligibility: Businesses that were required to shut down or restrict services as a result of being placed into the Ontario red zone (or the previous Modified Sta...ge 2) can apply for a rebate in the form of a grant for property taxes and energy costs including electricity and natural gas (or propane and heating oil if natural gas is not available). Businesses will not be eligible if they are located within the area subject to the public health restriction but were not required to close or significantly restrict services. Application: Funding will cover the length of time the regional restrictions are in place. New: Minimum wage rates in Ontario will increase on October 1, 2020. Under the Making Ontario Open for Business Act this increase is tied to the Ontario Consumer Price Index for 2020. The increase to the general minimum wage will be 25 cents, which will bring the new rate to $14.25 an hour. The general and specialized minimum wage rates that will take effect on October 1,2020 are detailed in the chart below.... BIG CRB NEWS! 25% Increase, now matches CERB. The Canada Recovery Benefit will help Canadians who stopped working due to COVID-19 but do not qualify for EI and Canadians who continue to have their employment or self-employment income reduced by 50 per cent or more due to COVID-19, said Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough, during a news conference.
