This week my mum Bev was able to drop off our donation directly to the Volunteer coordinator at the BC Cancer Clinic. Typically volunteers host different fundraisers to stock the coffee cart - but that all came to an end last March. We are so happy we were able to raise funds to support our community members going through treatment . We also gifted one of our beaded ornaments - this photo is Bev (right) handing Heather (left) our gift and our donation.

Making art is a really interesting and challenging endeavour. Tapping into the things that make me feel deeply... and trying to translate those feelings into imagery on canvas is my constant goal. It’s hard because it’s a vulnerable thing to do...to be honest about what I like and who I am. To share these feelings and curiosities with the world. My ideas and creations are not for everyone...but man - the people who get it make the journey so worth being on. How truly special ...is it that my little exploring robot has become a constant reminder to this beautiful couple . A reminder to keep seeking joy and magic in the simple things in life...a reminder to stop and appreciate the way the clouds look, or the sound of rippling waves. A reminder that we are all on this journey together - so let’s be gentle with ourselves and each other - and spread a little joy and whimsy wherever we go . . . I’ve been busy this week... today I just wrapped up my 13th miniature oil painting ( alongside about 8 other canvases I have on the go...)!! I’m excited to be getting ready for this u100 show coming up at the @lakecountryartgallery !! It’s a great place to find some of the best affordable original locally made work in time for the holidays . . Super excited to share this fun project I’ve been working on with my mum and sister this year. We love crafting together - and have been making these beaded ornaments for the last couple of years!! Now that our trees are full - we are selling them at the local shop @karmyc_bazaar - and donating the proceeds to a local charity! We dropped off our collection of ornaments today - and they will be hung on their tree available on Tuesday! . . Beaded Snow Stars!... 50% of all proceeds will be donated to the Volunteer Program at the BC Cancer Agency Sindi Ahluwalia Hawkins Centre for the Southern Interior The Mackie family matriarch Bev is a cancer survivor. She spent most of the last decade since her retirement volunteering at our local cancer treatment centre, where she has been able to provide guidance and comfort to patients. The funds raised from our Beaded Snow-Stars will go to the Volunteer Program to ensure the coffee cart stays stocked with items of comfort for future patients in treatment.

One thing I have missed most since the pandemic began is simply talking about art with people. I have missed teaching painting classes, hosting private students, and showing my work in public with the opportunity to chat about it! This morning I was thrilled for the opportunity to share my work with this art class at NGM major high school in Long Island, Bahamas. They are working on a project around the theme of mosaics and collage - which I have explored in my own way over ...the years! Their teacher is a friend from art school - and she chose to share my work with her class as one of their ‘artist inspirations’ for this project! How cool is that!! It’s crazy how during these divisive and challenging times - we are learning different ways to stay connected with each other. I’m so grateful to spread my love for making art...and can’t wait to see what this awesome group comes up with. . . . #artistlife #canadianartist
