NEW DATE! The next session of the Transformative Parenting Program will begin Monday, January 11, 2021 with a 3-hour session from 5:30-8:30 pm, followed by 6 weekly sessions from 5:30-7:30 pm. This popular program combines the use of videos, activities, and group discussion to help parents refocus their attention on their children, rather than on each other. We’ve seen incredible transformations between parents’ communication from start to finish. Due to COVID-19 restriction...s and guidelines, the Transformative Parenting Program will be held ONLINE. Parents must attend all 7 sessions, participate in the activities, complete homework assignments, and complete a pre-and post-assessment survey. Co-parents generally attend the same group; however, co-parents do not speak directly to each other, unless they wish. Individual attendance is also accepted. For the month of October, JMS Law will be supporting Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka. Gilda's Club Simcoe Muskoka ensures all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community. Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka is an independent charitable organization that provides support for anyone impacted by cancer. The organization, with the help of their team of trained social workers, helps provide support through one on one meetings and var...ious support groups tailored to the needs of their members. The club currently supports 500 active members and in the 10 years since the club has opened, has supported 2,000 members free of charge. During Covid, many of their programs and consultations have moved to virtual or phone meetings. During this time, the organization has seen one-to-one meetings increase by 218%, demonstrating the need for Gilda’s now more than ever. Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka’s biggest need at the moment is to raise awareness of their services. Since Gilda’s does not receive government assistance, they rely solely on the generosity of businesses, foundations and individuals who donate on a yearly or even monthly basis.
