A Place to Land is a music video created by students at Joanne's House. The students had an opportunity to create an original work to share their experience and raise awareness to youth homelessness and Joanne's House. Seasons Greetings, Somehow this time of year the stars seem brighter, the snow looks whiter and people’s smiles are wider. Many friends of Joanne’s House are dropping by bearing gifts; meals, trays of goodies, turkeys, gift cards, financial donations and offers of help. During this festive season Joanne’s House is filled with the delicious aroma of cookies baking, laughter and reminiscing. Along with the joy comes sadness as for some youth this is the first Christmas they ar...e spending disconnected from family. At this time of year our thoughts turn to the hurting, vulnerable, exploited, abused, ill, persecuted and homeless. The community support we see is truly amazing. Thank you for helping us make this Christmas bright for the at-risk, homeless youth we serve. May your hearts and homes be filled with peace, hope & joy this Christmas. Winter Wonderland was the theme for this year’s 10th annual Pickering Mayor's Gala held at the Pickering Recreation Complex. Well-dressed men and women particip...ated in the year’s wildly anticipated event that helped raise more than $1 million for Rouge Valley Ajax Hospital and other community organizations. A portion of the funds will also support Luke's Place Support & Resource Centre for Women & Children, Wounded Warriors Canada, Joanne's House - Durham Youth Housing and Support Services and Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity. With delicious appetizers, live music and dancing, the Mayor’s Gala was once again one of the social highlights of the year. Thanks to the tremendous Gala Chair, Diana Hills-Milligan, and her hard working, creative committee members and volunteers, this wintery land truly was a wonder. See more

Happy Thanksgiving! We're thankful for everyone in the community that support us. We wouldn't be able to help at-risk and homeless youth in Durham without you.

A BIG thanks to everyone who rode for us or donated this weekend at Ride for Refuge. The amazing effort of John, Joe, Fred, Leigh, and Andrew on Rotary Wheels from the Whitby Rotary Club. Olivia, Morgan and Mariam on the Two Wheel Crusaders and of course Jill and George on Team Joanne's House! Together they raised almost $2000 for our programs to help at-risk youth in the region.
