I have collected quite a few copies, from 1936 onwards. This painting is of a 1943 edition...a dedication inside written in 1944...what times this book has lived! Lived through cooking, the making of meals for families, passed on to younger generations...this book, as I can determine from the dedication on the inside of the cover, was given - not new - from a couple to the recipient...as a gift. I wonder if it was a wedding gift. It was treasured to have ended up with me...treasured still, in 2020. I will have to put notes in all of my books, just to say that I was here. All of our moms, mostly, had one of these books.
