As much as I love makeup, it takes up too much of my time and Im struggling to keep up with the everyday basics such as cleaning and maintaining my home, so something has to give. Good makeup artists have always acted like there was a possibility of every client having a communicable disease. I ALWAYS, without exception, have hand sanitizer and alcohol on my clean workstation along with stainless steel tools and my disposables. How I work: My hands are initially washed and sanitized upon entering your home and setting up my station. Throughout our session, they are sanitized throughly after touching my own skin, any other surface such as my makeup bag..., or any part of your home. My dry palettes which contain pressed colours such as shadows are throughly sprayed down with alcohol which is left to evaporate, leaving in on for well over the time for CAD GOV recommends. My brushes are cleaned in soap and water AND alcohol and all my stainless steel equipment is run through the high heat dishwasher AND sprayed with alcohol (using the surface protocol). Mascara, glosses and anything cream based is scooped out of its original container to a stainless steel palette where only disposables are used. This is the same standard of care I will continue to deliver to each session I attend. However, moving forward I would like to: - screen our appointments to understand the risk of exposure in relation to travel/proximity to an existing CoVid case. - limit the amount of people in our makeup room to just you and I. You are welcome to have your family and friends join in by Skype or have them in the next room, but lets not gather in large crowds. - reserve the right to wear an n95 mask if I feel it is necessary. It is your beautiful face we will be working on, not mine. Safety and beauty are my main concerns. Thoughts? Want to ask me questions or talk it out?

If you have thought about switching foundation brands but dread the colour matching process here is a good tool. Put in the foundations that have worked for you and it will suggest new foundations from other brands which are a very close match. It helps if you have multiple colours which work for you, but will work with just one. Give it a shot and let me know what you think!

How long can you keep makeup? This is an excellent question and one I answer all the time. Here are some guidelines. 1) Your makeup will be happy to tell you how long it is good for once opened. Look for the PAO (period after opening) symbol and write the upcoming date somewhere on the case. ... 2) Powders stay good for up to 3-5 years. Use a sanitizing spray and always use clean brushes. 3) To get the most of your water-based products, do not stick your finger in the jars! Look for discoloration or a funky smell and toss it if you suspect anything. Global news did a great video here that you can watch here :

I have always read reviews before purchasing products, especially new skin care, but now I am changing my strategy a bit. Since reviews do so much to boost your rankings, I am going back to trusted experts like other makeup artists or cosmetologist. People I actually know and trust - the old fashioned word of mouth. Do you have a question about a product? ASK and if I have used it, I will answer candidly. Dont always trust the internet.

I really want to do this look, but with a gold highlight. I am quite certain she cant close her lips without ruining this look and yes I am sure it is heavy and a bit gucky - but the photos!

What a fun night! Did some stage makeup and then watched the amazing show. Congrats to Treena & Robin for crushing it last night. I am still riding the endorphins of some great laughs.
