Did you know it's possible to buy a home without having a down payment saved up? BIG NEWS! There was an announcement yesterday by CMHC regarding insured mortgage policies! Starting July 1st the GDS/TDS debt service ratios are going down to 35% & 42% (from 39% & 44%), minimum credit scores increases to 680 (from 600) and 'non-traditional' borrowed down payments will no longer be accepted. This could affect anyone looking to qualify for a mortgage in the near future. The silver lining is that it doesn't appear the private insurers Genworth or Canada Guar...anty are following suit but stay tuned for more updates. I attended the SREDA Forum 2020 event last week (thanks to the Gabriel Dumont Institute) and the focus was on economic growth in the Saskatoon Region.
