Today we pause to remember the bravery that has allowed us to live the life we live today. || Forging his age, Leonard Apps (Joe's Grandfather) volunteered to be enlisted at 17 in 1939. He chased Rommel across the desert with the British Eighth Army, landed in Sicily and pushed up through Italy. He later returned to England with an injured leg and had gangrene removed. From there, he travelled to the Normandy beaches and went on to liberate two concentration camps. On the 50th Anniversary of D Day, Leonard was honoured by the Le President du Regional Conseil in Normandy.
