Recently installed this gang of 3 windows. Removed the old faded, single pane picture window and replaced with larger vinyl sets. Full trims and casing inside and out. Now draft free. Anything is possible . . . give me a call for fall bookings. JOE
LET THERE BE LIGHT ! Custom window in an old shed. Milled and built wood window frame, glazed with re-used old wavy glass. New sill and casings. Everything built and pre-stained in shop. Bring new life back into your out buildings and make them functional again.
Built and replaced rotten door, jambs, trims and sill. Done in an the old-school style to match the old barn. Thinking of revitalizing and old barn or shed? Give me a call and we can discuss your project.
Resurrecting an old door. Complete strip, resize in all directions, move lock sets to opposite side, reset original wavy glass, oil primed, filled and micro caulked with 2 topcoats of enamel. Also demoed and rebuilt jambs and casings/ trims. Door had to be custom sized to fit within the extremely short space available, due to poor construction by the person that build the mudroom 50 or so years ago. Jambs and casings are soft and hard flashed with insulation making it draft free. Works like a charm.
Currently building this 12' X 24' shed. Post more picks when finished.
Barn wall rebuild. Demo'ed and rebuilt wall with screened in portions (there are winter covers). Before the space was in risk of collapse and very chaotic inside. Now the space has been converted into a multi use space for all seasons.
Building a roof on on top of an existing deck. Just finishing the framing, T&G roof boards next then metal roofing with 2 sky lights. Client will fill in the wall portion with screen making for an excellent out door, bug free space for the upcoming summer/ fall season.
Always wanted to try and make wood framed windows. Turned out fairly ok considering the limitations of my shop. Will refine the process and make new ones for my house eventually. The glass that will be used is recycled from old windows.
HELPING to SAVE an OLD BARN Demo'ed and reconstructed collapsing GABLE END WALL on this 100 year old (plus) beast of a barn. First I had to support the roof on the attached shed as it was hanging on said wall. Laid 6 level concrete piers and then built a 2X6 wall running the length of the shed to support it's roof and to free it from the gable end wall. Then I carefully removed the bottom 2/3 rd's of the gable end wall, replacing it as original as possible using custom lumber milled to dimension at a local mill. Early this spring i will install the pre fab, pre hung hay door, wide flashing's and shingle the exterior. Good for another 100 years.
2 Hardwood Floor PATCHES framed, decked and weaved in, from a limited amount of reclaimed hardwood, these 2 patches. One was the original cold air intake for the furnace and the other was a toilet. Once floor is refinished they should blend better.
Reconstruct BATHROOM FLOOR and Remodel Project I'm pretty sure this bathroom has not seen a renovation since it was installed in the 1950's. Did some work on this neglected bathroom in a 100 year old (plus) farm house. The home owner had all ready done some... wall repair and tiled up the walls around the tub. I started by removing the rotten hardwood floor then stabilized existing floor joists with custom made steel brackets rectifying the damage the plumbers had done getting the original plumbing in, compromising the 2 main floor joists holding the floor up. Then I built and installed a custom cantilevered/ floating floor joist to help take the weight of the tub when filled. Also installed full cross blocking, ran new water feeds and decked surface, now ready for ceramic tiles as it was no longer threatening to cave in. Came out super solid. Next I installed a bit of wainscoting, tiled walls/ floor and put new base boards, tile caps and trims in. Ready for paint. Below the bathroom I built a custom removable (for future plumbing and lighting considerations) tongue & groove ceiling to cover the underside. All in keeping with the existing funk and era of the house.
Built and installed these 3 new custom windows for an old shed. Also spent some time repairing rot spots on the walls. J.P&C can bring new life to failing/ neglected sheds with innovative solutions.
just finished laying 700 sq. feet of cork flooring, installing and painting 120 feet of base board at the The Turning Point's new location. https://www.facebook.com/theturningpoint2014/
Just finished this brand new porch on an old Manse in Murray Harbour North, From supporting the existing roof and demoing the old porch I was able to build a structurally sound and more 'in keeping with' porch. J's P&C can build to suit the style of your historic house. Give me a call 902.962.3930
Currently building a new porch on this house I painted last year. Have the roof suspended and starting to tackle some of the issues. Second image is what was there, due to insufficient structure to hold the porch, it eventually warped.
