Shopping for gift cards for family and friends in BC and across Canada? What if you could send your aunt, niece, nephew, sister, brother a Gap/American Eagle/Shoppers/Sephora/Lululemon/Roots/La Vie en Rose gift card for $50 and make $2-$5.50 for John Oliver kids at the same time? What if your small business bought their gas or office supplies (Shoppers, Staples) in advance with gift cards for 2021 and made $15 for John Oliver kids?... What if you bought your whole team Cactus Club $100 gift cards they could enjoy with their families and made $7 from each one for John Oliver kids? What if you bought a $250 gift card for No Frills and then taught your family to use it (!) and made $7.50 for John Oliver? JO PAC is doing OK for grant money this year, but, since it's gift card season, thought I would put this reminder out. You can only buy $500 or 4 cards max per envelope. And you pay $1 for postage. But you can send gift cards to people in any province (must specify province) with a few clicks using our Fundscrip portal (which - sorry - does require you use bill payment = easy but not credit card)... it's a slight hoop but it's the way to maximize funds to John Oliver. Face-to-face school time is *so* important! We are on the PAC meeting right now - and teachers are mentioning: Please do NOT book dentist or non-urgent appointments during face-to-face time for your kids classes; do NOT book driving tests during your face-to-face time! AND as reminder - if your child is going to be absent from a face-to-face day, realize they're missing a week of old-ways school and PLEASE call the school 604-713-8938 to let them know. It's courteous and save...s the phone-hey-did-they-skip message going out. The attendance administrator does NOT mind getting a pro-active call. AND please have your child contact their teacher through Teams or email to see how they can work together to make up the time/assessments/earning. Do not wait. Much can be done! Report cards come out next week! Spend time with your kids on MyEd to review! And remember you need to download report cards each quarter as the VSB only saves the latest one, so if you want the comments from last time, save the PDF to your computer before it gets saved over. So neat to get the PDF distribution - saves so much printing!
