Here’s my contribution to the Year of The Memes.. This is the first thought that came to my mind while reading through the list last night. I’m really praying the list released yesterday is revisited and clarified today.... What some fail to realize is the context by which their industry and professions may be deemed essential. If you are included in this list and you must, please adapt and take all necessary precautions. Use sound judgement in your decisions to move forward (or not). As usual, I’m always a text, call, dm or dark meme away and happy to assist with your concerns and answer any questions you may have. I have adopted many new protocols and will visit them on a case by case basis to ensure the safety of everyone is first and foremost. That being said, some difficult decisions may still have to be made. And I will make them when necessary. I will admit that I have been a little rattled over the last few days about how to move forward through all of this. And it took one call to a very good friend of mine to get me off the edge. He reminded me that the John he knows is a natural problem solver. It took that call to remind me of my belief that wherever a problem exists, there also exists is a solution and oftentimes multiple solutions. And in that instant the proverbial light bulb turned on. You see.. I was focused on the problem. And not the solution. So I sat in my thoughts for a little while longer and focused on the possible solutions to the problems that were troubling me. And in doing so, I have decided that moving forward I choose to leverage that gift as best as I can to help my clients, family and friends when presented the opportunity. It won’t be business as usual, and there will be some aspects of my business that are on hold and off limits for the time being, but it will be the safest we can make it under these current circumstances. Let me crystal clear here.. this isn’t a message about being available for all of your real estate needs.. it is however a message that I remain available to assist where and when I can safely do so. I am also leveraging technology whenever possible, and being maniacally precautious when technology cannot be leveraged. Regardless of if our government believes I provide an essential service or not.. I choose to interpret it to how I safely see fit. Stay safe out there my friends. We will get through this.

Check this out! Last week I posted that I would complete the CCIM designation in one year. I had absolutely no clue as to how I would accomplish this.... Not from a workload or studying perspective, but more so from a logistical perspective. These courses are traditionally scattered around North America at different times of the year. I had no clue when and where the courses would be located in 2020. Until yesterday. Yesterday I learned that all the courses are going to be held in the upcoming months in the GTA. This is the first time in a long time. I couldn’t believe it! I smiled inside. And the first thought to come into my mind was this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson. I think it’s pretty cool how once we make a decision, The Universe conspires to make things happen. You don’t have to agree with me on this. But I have seen this happen more than once in my life over the last few years. And that’s enough from me to dismiss this and all other fortunate circumstances as a coincidence.

I’ve been doing alot of soul searching lately. And in doing so I realize I find myself caught between two worlds. The residential real estate world and the commercial real estate world. ... They are both uniquely different and in order to excel at both simultaneously, one requires completely different skill sets. This is why most agents focus on either one or the other. But I’m not like most agents. I have been fortunate to have achieved incredible success early on in my career in both worlds. I love both equally and helping clients buy and sell commercial real estate has quickly become a large part of my identity as a REALTOR. This morning I finally decided to level up my commercial real estate game and I committed to do putting in the work to obtain the highly coveted CCIM designation. The CCIM designation denotes that the member has completed advanced coursework in financial and market analysis, and demonstrates extensive experience in the commercial real estate industry. It is a designation held in high regard in the commercial real estate world. One that is held by a very select few. Now please don’t get me wrong I’m not quitting residential real estate. I will continue to serve all my clients (both residential and commercial) at the highest possible level while putting in the work to achieve this coveted pin. Some agents and brokers take three years to accomplish this. My goal is to get it all done in one. Wish me luck as I embark on the next chapter of my career.

I recently had the privilege to work with an incredible woman and her mom and just over the Christmas holidays I received an amazing testimonial which filled my heart. . If you are looking to buy or sell a house - you’ve found the best man for the job!! John was an absolute pleasure to work with! John is extremely ...knowledgeable about all the ins and outs of buying and selling a house. He provided suggestions for staging, and how to do finishing touches on the house, to maximize its selling potential. He also provided a lot of feedback and opinion on houses to buy/what to expect, etc. John always went above and beyond... and did so with a smiling face!! He is easy to talk to, non-judgmental, and just a genuinely kind person. Words truly cannot even express how highly I think of him and his ability as a real estate agent! I would definitely use John again (though I have no plans on moving again anytime soon), and I will continue to recommend John as a real estate agent to friends and family (as he also sold my mom’s condo)!! My Saturdays and Sundays begin with a visit to the local rink. Watching my boy and all his teammates develop on the ice is truly incredible! To think that he’s only been skating for a year and to see how much he’s improved in such a short time really blows my mind... I’m super grateful for the volunteers, the coaches and everyone involved in making this fun and a enjoyable experience for our kids. It’s been practices and skills development twice a week until now and the season officially starts this weekend with a game scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday. On weekend mornings for the rest of the winter you can find me at the rink cheering on my hometown #thorntontigers
