Welcome back Today is the day that all students are back at JYES!! School Council is still awaiting direction from the OCDSB in regards to what our year will look like. What we know now is that food days will not happen (at least for Term 1), our meetings will be virtual and our first meeting (elections) has been delayed. Once we know more a message will be sent out with Mr. James’ weekly email and we will post an update on our website as well as on this page. ... For those who still have a credit in their Hot Lunches account, please watch for an email from School Council some time next week!

Take a minute to watch this special thank you message from our very own Michael Allen, to the Grade 6 students from John Young Elementary School in Kanata. Fo...ur Grade 6 classes, with the support of John Young ES School Council, raised funds for a final group activity before starting at new schools in the fall. Sadly, due to #COVID19, the grad trip that they had planned was cancelled. The grad committee chose to donate the funds they raised to three local charities, and to donate the rest to the school library to purchase books. The three charities are United Way East Ontario (in particular for COVID-19 relief), The Ottawa Humane Society, and Black Lives Matter. We’re so proud to be among the causes these wonderful students chose to share their donations with. Thank you, students, for supporting your local community during this time of exceptional need. Know that your gift will help those that have been most affected by the pandemic. We wish you all a happy summer and a great start to your Grade 7 year!
