Following the new provincial restrictions, we are still open but restricting number of people in our store. Before the week-end, we were at 50% capacity of 2 households, 2 people each. NOW we are welcoming 1 household of 2 people max in our small store. Please consider shopping online instead. We're happy to deliver locally or ship across Canada. We'll be adding new bars and updated availability shortly. If you don't see what you are looking for, just call and we'll help you with a phone order. Curb side pick up is still an option. Hi all, just a heads up, and you probably know, we are closed tomorrow for Good Friday. We hope you enjoy the day! Back in on Saturday from 10 to 5 with restricted capacity in place. If you are shopping for chocolate for the holidays you might want to call ahead or order online for curb side or in store pick up. So Sunday was Valentine's Day, Monday was Family Day and today is Random Acts of Kindness. Three days to show (and receive) love. What a great way to start the week. And tomorrow? Happy first day of the new year. Took the dog for a walk this morning and saw more activity on the Beaver Pond than we have seen in years. Felt like a throwback to when the pond had a change hut, snow clearing and ice maintenance. Now the community is taking care of it for all to enjoy. Jack couldn't resist joining in!

A quick update regarding our hours of operation for what could be most of January. Please note that our store is closed until the lock down in Ottawa is lifted. I will be in the store to take and fill orders Dec 29 to 31 from 12 to 5. Then again from Jan 5 onwards, Tuesdays to Fridays from 12 to 5. Online orders are welcome. E-mail orders are welcome. An amazing new box of chocolates from @Holdsworth Hand Made English Chocolates. Espresso Martini Cocktail Truffles in white, milk and dark chocolate ganache combined with aromatic coffee, a dash of vodka and topped with a gold dusted coffee bean. Yes, this box is missing 2 pieces. Couldn't help myself :)... Available in store only. Limited quantities.

We're taking appointments! Yup, private shopping. Just you and me in the store. Very Covid Cool. You can call to book a half hour slot (or more if you think you'll need it) and you can get your Holiday shopping done in one trip with no one else around. And no waiting outside to come in. Appointments are available starting Tuesday November 4. You can choose a Tuesday or Wednesday evening from 6pm to 9pm or a Thursday or Friday morning from 9am to noon. Call 613-435-7722 to book. It’s a beautiful day in so many ways! It’s Saturday, the sun is shining and our shelves of Palette de Bine are full again!

Spent Sunday trying out some new Chocolate pairings to write the next blog. Worked our way through through 6 bars and 2 scotches (not the whole bottle!) and came away with some interesting pairings you can soon read about :)

Hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend! I spent a good part of Sunday at Jabulani Vineyard & Winery tasting a beautiful soon to be released red and pairing it with chocolate. Delicious way to spend an afternoon. Oh and yes we have some great new pairings to share with you soon!

With Thanksgiving on the horizon, you might be thinking about cooking a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. During our chocolate and wine pairings our sommelier Robert always mentions other foods you can pair with the wines we are using for chocolate pairings. When the zinfandel pairing comes up, Robert notes that this wine is a great pairing with a turkey dinner. Choose the Ravenswood Old Vine Zinfandel LODI but if you can't find this one (not always available), the Gnarly Head Wines has an Old Vine Zinfandel that will also work beautifully! Oh, and it also pairs well with Hummingbird Chocolate Maker Tumaco 70% and MAROU, Faiseurs de Chocolat Tien Giang 70%, so now you have dessert too :)

Last year on this week-end we held the first The Ottawa Chocolate Show in partnership with DesBarres Chocolate and the many talented chocolate makers and chocolatiers in Ottawa and across Canada.
