Many great reasons why the CSA model is so good for farmers and the health of the land and soil!

What exactly does pasture-raised eggs/chickens mean? For us, it means our chickens reside in a 'Cackellac', which is something like a mobile greenhouse structure but with all these bell n whistles to ensure the chickens are self-contained with roosts, nesting boxes, water and feed system. Every single morning, the whole operation is moved to fresh ground which means the chickens have access to fresh grass and clean ground to scratch. They fertilize the soil as they go which will mean more fertile soil for the next round of cover/forage crops. By the time they make the full rotation of the field, the first patch should be regrowing nicely and providing more nutritious feed for the flock. #pastureraised #freerangechickens #happychickens #habitatfarm #jollityfarm #healthyeggs

Some of you may recall the 'tomato & sometimes cucumber greenhouse' (maybe some years called Beta?), over in bramble land. I think it may have been something Grant Babin and Noah Adamson Bond created by recycling some old awnings. Well, it's being born again into a buck barn for our mighty feller, Cliff. Reusing at it's best; not only are the old awnings getting yet another life, but also pieces of the cabins from Camp Columbia are being used for walls and siding. Here are a couple of phases leading up the finale which is coming soon... Fantastic work, Catherine, Noah & Pierre!

Hi Friends of Jollity Farm! We apologize that it's been so long since we've been in touch, but life & farming has kept us so busy these days. We promise to start sharing more photos and news as there are many exciting things happening. In addition to Jollity Farm, Noah and I have started on an adventure in partnership with the Porter Family, and a co-op raising rare breed livestock in harmony with permaculture models to create a living food forest. We'd like to introduce you... to HABITAT FARM. Here's a small taste of what's happening on the farms these days. More to come soon.... More new friends to introduce you too. Welcome Buttercup, Neo & Trinity! Jollity's animal friends are making a return and this time they are all part of super fun new initiative on Thetis Island. We have started a livestock co-op in partnership with the Portal and our community. This means a whole group of people can enjoy the positive benefits of caring for animals and sharing in healthy products; without the burden of all the work and responsibility just falling to one or two! You know what they say... "many hands make light work" Yes, it's true! makes it more fun too!
