A BIG THANK YOU to those who contributed to Jon Sigurdsson Chapter's partnership with the Mama Bear Clan, Kildonan United Church and the Maya Person Fund to supply 50 pantry hampers to those in need in Pt. Douglas area. The Jon Sigurdsson Chapter raised $1200 in two weeks towards the project. Members Natalie and Karen did some of the shopping. Susan and Brian Person packaged the goods. Mama Bear Clan will pick them up and distribute the hampers.

A BIG THANK YOU to all those who donated purses, product and money to our September fundraiser! These will be going to support women at Madison House of the Siloam Mission, 1JustCity, RAY- Resource Assistance for Youth, Sunshine House resource centre, and the young Mom's program at Rossbrook House. Today at the Scandinavian Cultural Centre in Winnipeg three members of Jon Sigurdsson Chapter sorted the purses and products which were collected to distribute to the 5 social agencies supporting women. As $500 was also collected, each agency will receive $100 to supplement the collected products.

It is with sadness that the Jon Sigurdsson Chapter announces the death of one of our former members, Kathleen Thorsteinson. Kathleen helped with our Bridge and Whist luncheons over the years. She had a great sense of humour and creative ideas for fundraising...coming up with ideas how each member could raise $100 through a variety of activities to support our 100th anniversary goal of $10,000 for the Children's Rehab Centre. We have included a photo of Kathleen and her obituary as it was posted on Neil Bardal Inc website. Our condolences to the family.
