Dear 2018, bring it. // Happy new year my lovebugs! Thank you so much for your patience during my little instagram break. This fall/winter brought a lot, including some major creative block. I am working past that, and have made a resolution to post every day this year! This will be a huge challenge, but one I look forward to. I hope to rediscover my creativity and find new ways to create content, inspire, and be inspired. Wishing you all the best in 2018!! : @selenabrassard : @dylanernstphotography

S U B C U L T U R E P R O S Highly pigmented On trend, cohesive colours... More value than buying the same amount of ABH single shadows Variety of shadows Different colour scheme than most palettes on the market right now. C O N S The fallout/kickback is real Nowhere near as user or beginner friendly as the Modern Renaissance Cost Quality has been inconsistent between individual palettes Colours sometimes oxidize and therefore change colour once hitting the lid Some have had difficulty blending The gosh darn velvet packaging! It's impossible to keep it looking brand spankin new and that really bugs me T I P S Build up the shadows, do not go for the max. pigmentation you want right off the bat. Unfortunately this can result in major blending issues for this palette! Be sure to apply mattes to a dry base. After your primer has dried, be sure to powder the lid with translucent powder or your nude coloured eyeshadow of choice. Moisture on the lid will encourage the shadows to oxidize, compromising the colour of the shadow. F I N A L T H O U G H T S I would not recommend this palette to a beginner, or anyone who likes low maintenance shadows that don't require building up. These shadows are not worth changing up your entire eyeshadow technique, unless that's something you're willing to do. I do believe brands will follow suit with this colour scheme, so you may want to hold out for some dupes with different formulas/ or just buy single shadows from different brands, to make your own comparable palette. I don't believe ABH will revamp this too much as I think they meant for these shadows to be pressed and formulated exactly how they are. This does not excuse vast inconsistencies, which I think will be halted by quality control rather than a changing the entire palette. This product is not very comparable to Modern Ren., but I do think it's beautiful, and definitely has it's place in my palette collection. If the colours speak to you, I say swatch it if you can, get a feel for it, + make your own choice! It's your dollar, after all! I will keep playing with this palette and let you know more of my thoughts and tips as time goes on.
