Did you know even if an appliance, lamp and computer are turned off that they still use energy? This includes that phone charger that is plugged in but not connected to your phone right now! So, today, with this fact in mind, I bring you idea #3 for my Earth Day Countdown. Let's try to reduce the amount of energy we waste by unplugging our toasters, microwaves, coffee makers, lamps, phone chargers, computers and any other items that are currently plugged in but not actually being used. Even if we consciously make an effort to do this before we head to bed at night it can make a difference.
April 22, 2021 marks the 51st Anniversary of Earth Day! This year consider adding a composter or compost pile to your backyard. You can compost coffee grounds, food scraps and even egg shells. This not only reduces the amount of waste we ship off to landfills but also provides enriched compost for your gardens. Here are some great resources to get you started! ... https://landscapeontario.com/composting https://learn.eartheasy.com/guides/composting/ https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/have-food-waste-let-worms-create-
Earth Day is April 22nd. With the kids on Spring Break this week, it could be a great time to start planning for Earth Day activities that the whole family can be involved with. Idea #1 Today's idea is: Plan to plant a garden or add some green to your space.... This one can take some planning and shopping so I thought I'd mention this one first. There is still lots of time to get what you may need if you don't have it already. Get the kids involved by helping you pick the perfect area for the new plants or ask them what flowers they would love to include. Don't have a yard space for this? A window box is a great alternative! This project could even include creating a herb garden!

Time to look at London's stats for the month of March. House values have increased again in all areas of the city but we saw fewer active listings compared to last March.
Here we are in April and now you may be wondering what types of projects around your home you could do this month. This article has some great suggestions! One great one mentioned is to check your basement for leaks that may have started over the winter. With the grey sky over London right now, this is perfect timing for this reminder! https://www.bobvila.com//bob-vila-s-10-must-do-projects-fo

Wondering what you should do with your Christmas tree after the holidays? Please remove all your decorations and then drop off your tree or seasonal greenery at... an EnviroDepot. This year, there will not be curbside collection of Christmas trees as a separate pickup or with the regular garbage pickup. Please drop it off at an EnviroDepot or wait until spring and place your tree out for Yard Waste Collection. london.ca/envirodepots #LdnOnt
