So.... If you've ever wondered if Home Organizers struggle with their own homes, I'm here to pull back the curtain and say, "Yes we do!" In our newsletter this week, I decided to be open and brave and vulnerable like all of our clients and show you the worst place in our home. I've added some 'before' pictures and no, they're not staged and yes, this is actually what our back entrance currently looks like.... So how in the heck does this happen? To a Home Organizer, no less! Let me break it down for you... 1 - Delayed decisions, aka: clutter. I have some things I need to decide whether to sell, give away or store in their proper home. 2 - Like many of you, I share this house with 3 other people. Not everyone shares my love of organizing. 3 - It's not just a matter of tidying and putting things away. I can see there's a couple of system flaws which means it will take more time and more thought to make it work. Unfortunately time is not something I have a lot of these days, so finding some time to dedicate to this project, even if it's only 1 hour, has been a struggle. So, what’s a girl to do? First, I’m doing what I ask our clients to do. I'm going to show you the mess because this is real life. It is 4 months of focusing on our family, not the stuff. But, now I'm ready to spend some time and energy on it because, well, it makes me feel de-energized the minute I walk in the door. So, stay tuned! I'll update you as I make progress on the space, what new systems I implement and what happened with all that stuff.

Today I wanted to share some shots from our latest project. More than a craft room, this 'Creation Room' that we worked on several years ago needed a little refresh. 2 days of diving into the smallest of details - including sorting beads and rolls lace - and her room was back to the spacious, inspiring room she had 7 years ago. And it has to be said that this space is not just about the 'after' pictures. Clearing away the clutter on the outside allows you to clear it away on the inside. It changes your energy and your perspective and, ultimately, how you feel about yourself. You're no longer defined as 'messy' or 'lazy' or 'a failure'. You are someone who is not only deserving of a beautiful space, but is capable of creating it.
