New project: Rachmaninoff Prelude in B minor Op. 32 No. 10. This is some of the most dramatic piano music from the Romantic era. The biggest emotions lie in the second page, shown above. Lazar Berman's recording is quite remarkable. Spotify link in bio. You NEED to hear this piece. . . . .... . #piano #pianolessons #pianogram #pianoteacher #pianopractice #pianomusic #musiceducation #musicclass #pianoplaying #musicteacher #pianosolo #pianoforte #pianoman #pianolife #classicalpiano #classicalmusic #classicalmusician #onlinepianolessons #onlinelessons #zoomlessons #zoompianolessons #rachmaninoff #rachmaninov #prelude #romanticism #emotion See more
From Brahms Intermezzo Op. 118 No. 2. There's a story behind this piece that I'll share in an upcoming live concert. I learned recently that Instagram encodes video in a quality directly proportional to the user's upload speed. That spells disaster for me, as we are on sketchy rural internet. I've tried to improve the audio quality for this clip, but it may have been in vain. Alas...
Figured I'd try for a Snowy Owl at dawn. If I was smart, I would have checked the temperature first before striking out in minus double digits. But these are the things you have to do during a Big Year. And what a beautiful, crisp, winter morning. Concession road + open fields + hydro poles = decent chance of spotting one. Took less than 10 minutes. This photo was taken with a Pixel 4a with NightSight, a Google algorithm that adjusts iso/aperture/shutter speed automatically to make low-light photos work for noobs like me.
Working on Brahms, Op. 117 no. 1. Also messing around with this excellent Pixel camera. I wanted a low-light, warm feel, but the Google camera app doesn't allow manual control of white-balance, ISO, aperture, etc. so I'm trying 'Open Camera'. Complete beginner, so absolute rubbish at lighting, but hoping to get better. I wanted backlighting here, but there's a wall in the way. So that means a monster shadow on the wall in front of me. Might have to move the piano. Any tips?
