Canadian Open race weekend The long journey out to Mont Tremblant started on Wednesday after work. My dad and I split our trip into 2 separate sections. Doing the bulk of it Wednesday night meant for a nice easy drive in on Thursday morning. Coming into the weekend, we made the decision to drive for Energy Kart North America. Practice Thursday was very important; we had to shake down the new chassis and I had to learn the track in the clock wise direction. After a solid 2 da...ys of practice we were set and ready for qualifying on Saturday. Come Saturday we had a good morning warm up and it looked like we had a good shot at pole position. Going out first on track meant that I was able to set 2 clean hot laps and attained pole position by 2 tenths. With the shifter field being close I knew the job wasn’t done yet. Sunday race day was upon us and we were focused and ready for battle. Off the line in the prefinal I had a great launch but over drove my entry on cold tires and locked up causing me to drop down to 2nd. With the tires not coming in I slid back to 3rd but I never gave up and with 2 laps to go I made a pass for 2nd. Finishing the prefinal on the front row meant that I had a great chance for the final. Starting in the grip for the final turned out to be a big advantage. I had another amazing start and from there I took the lead and never looked back. Opening up a 1.7 second lead over second place, I managed the race and tires just long enough to win the Canadian Open. I’d like to thank everyone at Ventresca Seberras Racing for the past 5 years. We have accomplished many great achievements together and I will forever be grateful for my time there. I’d like to thank Terry Ventresca for continuing to build the best power plant on the grid and Energy Kart North America for a great debut race, I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
