Congratulations to Malawi Women’s NetBall Team. It is such a coincidence that I am in Liverpool England celebrating my son’s graduation and I bump into the Malawi Women’s Netball Team.

Hi guys - I'm back! Here are some quick thoughts from the airport on my way to Malawi. I was unable to upload due to connection issues, but thought I'd share now. Special thanks to Ethiopian Airlines and Cadmen - Men's Hair Studio !

In 2019 I have visited Malawi twice. Once after Cyclone Idai. This was my most dangerous trip as there were a lot of environmental challenges from quicksand to flooding to crocs and hippos. The last day I ate some limes that almost killed me. On this mission there have been some demonstrations due to the recent elections as they are being contested as being rigged. I came back to Blantyre last night. Today there were more demonstrations. People were advised to stay indoors. Shops were closed. Didn’t think that political factors would be such a risk. I did go out and run errands. Lots of police presence. Roads are blocked in some areas. Lots of bricks and stones on the roads. Tensions are running high. Hopefully I will be able to leave tomorrow. I will advise

The team was hooked on a tub of Country Style Lemonade. They never tasted anything like it before. Ironically they have lots of citrus trees but they usually throw away the lemons because they are so sour = intense flavour to me. I had them squeeze some lemons into a pitcher, add some brown sugar (it’s all they use) and fill pitcher with water. Tasted out of this world. They never thought you could do this with the lemons. Sorry Country Time, you cannot compete with the real thing.

Believe it or not but they do not have garbage collection day in the villages. Trash is burned daily to keep the pests away. I was about to burn an empty Corn Flakes box when this little girl came running to rescue this box. It is her most prized possession now. It is actually her only possession now.
