WALKING ON SUNSHINE . . .... It takes a couple weeks longer for all of the snow to melt in our yard than anywhere else in this area (so it seems at least), maybe it’s because unlike my mom in town, I am not able to shovel the snow off of my lawn (approx 3 acres of lawn ) but with the sun shining, we are still here to have a good time and make the best of it. This was our first day of isolation (last weekend), we played outside and roasted smokies on the fire (Derek and I couldn’t taste them but I’m sure they were delicious ), we jumped on the trampoline, went for a walk and sat soaking in the glorious sunshine . . . What do you do to celebrate springs arrival?

You grew a human/humans and proceeded to undergo major surgery in order to bring them into this world. Then as you entered motherhood and went through all of the crazy things that come along with it you also healed from having multiple layers of your body cut into, stretched, pulled, emptied of baby/babies and placenta and then sewn back up. . . . GET STRONG . . .... Girl - don’t be afraid to lift the weight, to sweat, to try. There are so many wonderful things out there if you only dare to try. . . . I’m loving focusing on getting stronger vs skinnier! Seeing my body react positively to the exercises and nutritious foods I’m fuelling it with is such and amazing feeling. . . . You can do it too! Maybe it’s spending 5 minutes outside today, maybe it’s going for a walk, getting to the gym and going on the elliptical, or maybe it’s a full blown intense workout lifting heavy and sweating like mad. No matter what it is, I hope you do try something new, challenge yourself, and push yourself to new limits! . . . you are LOVED you are SUPPORTED you are ENOUGH

WHAT DO YOU SEE . . .... One of my favourite parts of creating custom keepsake jewellery is that most times others don’t know what’s actually in the piece. Whether it’s breastmilk, ashes of a loved one or beloved pet, dried wedding florals, sand from a getaway or fabric from a Teddy. . . . This specific piece was created for someone with a terminally ill family member. Pieces of fabric from the little girls dress, some tulle, a sequin, some fluff from her favourite teddy bear and dried pieces of her birth month flower were added to this piece to make it extra special. . . . MINI-CATION . . .... We escaped to Grande Prairie last night to hit up the pool just the four of us, spend the night in the in a hotel, and of course - hit up Costco . . . Kellan loved the water slide so much and Elijah loved learning to swim on his back (with a life jacket on - aka float and kick) and play bucking bronco with me while I tried to buck him off my back. . . . It’s funny how this isn’t something we ever would have done pre- VID, but we have been forced to get creative to make our adventures closer to home and yet the kids are just as ecstatic . . . ICHI NI SAN SHI . . .... Watching these two participate in karate over the past three months has been so much fun! I cannot believe how much they’ve learned and how much they’ve enjoyed it! . . . last night they received their orange belts, the smiles on their faces and the proud look in their eyes was something magical! . . . What sports to your children love? What sports did you play as a child? Do you still play now? FRESH AIR & DOUGHNUTS . . .... A few weeks back my mom and I headed to Powder King for a couple of nights with the boys. It was so nice to escape reality, spend some time outside and get the boys in ski lessons. We are so fortunate to have a Nana that’s down to explore and adventure with us anywhere and everywhere! We stopped at @azouzettalake on the way there to snag some fresh doughnuts! . . . Love making these memories!

NO FILTER . . .... You can use the best skincare in the world, but if you aren’t taking care of yourself from the inside out it doesn’t really matter. . . . Here are the real, the raw and the completely unfiltered results of my skin after months of sugar, carbs, deep fried, take out, lack of exercise and obsessive picking. . . . Another goal of mine for the new year is to stop picking - always a goal of mine but a habit I find very difficult to break, to watch my skins glow-up as I remove toxins from my body and introduce healthier habits all around. . . . SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT . . .... Well it’s the first week of 2021, seems fitting to share where I am at mentally, physically and emotionally. . . . Though 2020 was not a terrible year personally I’m sure we can all agree that globally it’s been pretty intense. I’ve used that as an excuse. To not take care of my body. To forget who I am. To ignore the signs that I wasn’t feeling well. Amongst so many other things. . . . I didn’t make it to they gym. Mind you it wasn’t open for parts of the year, I didn’t make working out at home a priority in its absence. I didn’t feed my body nutritious foods. Instead I took on emotional/ binge eating all of the things that effect my body negatively. In turn I gained 30lbs. . . . Now I know it’s not all about the scale. However that is the first tell tale sign that something was up, the second - my clothes not fitting, third- my skin breaking out like a pubescent teenager, fourth my mood swings worse than ever before, my lack of ambition, motivation, excitement and sex drive were just a few of the other tell tale signs that something needed to change. . . . The left hand side of this photo is me yesterday (Jan 3, 2021) post 30 minute elliptical workout on the lowest resistance and I was a sweaty exhausted mess uncomfortable and emotional. The dirty mirror and not so window stickers matching my mood . . . The right hand side - a photo I took while at the gym last January, feeling my best. Strong, fuelling my body with nutritious foods, working out regular, making time for myself. This is what I am working towards. . . . The second photo when scrolling left: me in 2012 after my first and only bikini competition. This was not healthy Alicia, I will share more on this experience another day but I wanted to share this to show you that your goal doesn’t need to the skinniest version of yourself, just the healthiest. 2021 is going to be the year I treat my body like the gift it is, care for it, love it and feed it healthy foods, kind words, and beautiful experiences! . . . I’m sending you all love and support for 2021 and whatever it holds/ you want it to hold for you! . . . you are LOVED you are SUPPORTED you are ENOUGH

HOME WORKOUTS AREN’T MY JAM . . .... But these Fitness with Amanda booty bands sure do make it better! My workouts take two to three times as long at home while keeping the boys happy, manoeuvring around the toys etc, the little things like being able reach for a colourful, fun printed band that adds weight and strength training to my workout seriously makes it so much better! . . .
