Journey to Wholeness 18.02.2021

Here I am hard at work in my new space - got my game face on! As much as I love the relaxation treatments, the oils... the aromas...oh my...I do enjoy getting right in there, too! I like to switch it up - this way I keep the creativity movin, and shakin'. Because to me, massage is both an art and a science, and I consider myself an artist and the body as a canvas, or a mold to shape. Is that weird that I just said that? I hope not, because that's how I feel. LOL . . . I kn...ew I wanted to be a Massage Therapist after working at Lucy's Bakery - making the breads, the feeling of the dough! And it was right then and there that I realized 2 things... 1) I love working with my hands and 2) I love working with people. And I thought to myself, hmm, how can I put the two together - OMG - that's it, I will be a Massage Therapist! And that, my friends, is how I came to be an RMT... . . . Though, a little side note on how the concept of molding actually does play out in our lives, not just because the concept thrills me (and it really does) but I think its also quite useful, too. . . . If you think about it, our bodies are like putty. And we are constantly molding our bodies every day when we perform our daily routines and activities. In this way, we are telling our bodies how we want them to move, day in and day out - and the body unconsciously responds to each and every move, keeping the muscle memory score, like its carved into a groove. . . . The longer we keep the same movement patterns and habits, the deeper these grooves become - making it more difficult to change these habit patterns over time... (and the same goes for the mind), but not impossible! The body and mind, have enormous healing potential. Never forget this! And massage (and Yoga) are great tools to help kickstart the unwinding of these unconscious habits (so unique to each individual) and reset the muscle tone, all via the work of the nervous system! A fascinating look into how the diaphragm really IS such an important muscle for the overall functioning of the body as a whole system. Journey to Wholeness 17.01.2021

Hello and Welcome back to Journey to Wholeness! Even though I never left, it feels as though I have circled back to stepping back out on my own again since first opening up im April 2012 - its been almost 9 years! . . I recently left Natural Choice Medical Clinic after 3 Amazing years of Massage Therapy there, to allow more space for Yoga and the evolution of my business and ultimately, myself, as this is how Journey to Wholeness came to be. When I started, I knew I wanted ...JTW to reflect my journey through Yoga and to hold me accountable - and so it does to this day! I also intuitively knew that since it was going to evolve as I did, I wanted to give it a name that would encompass this idea and whatever training or development I was into at the time. . . A little something you may not know about me is, going into University I always wanted to be a Psychologist/ Psychotherapist, but never made it into honours and so let that one go for the time being. But having stumbled upon Yoga and Meditation while in University, I decided to take a different route to access the mind (and body connection) that had me so intrigued! . . What started with Yoga and Indian Head Massage has evolved into RMT and now Yoga Therapy. Which is why I hesitated to call it, Jessica Sgrignoli, RMT. (Which would probably be the easier way to find me or know what I'm about right away). But I didn't want it to pin me into a corner, since I knew I was offering much more than Massage. . . To me, Journey to Wholeness, is an ever winding pathway that continues to spiral back to the beginning; a landing home, yet never quite complete. As I've realized through many years of Yoga practise and self study - just as I think I've figured it out and I feel like I'm exactly where I want to be, another layer is peeled away, and shows me what I need to work on next...and so it goes... for a lifetime... or more.. . . My dream goal in the near future is create a Massage & Yoga Sanctuary from home (Universe I'm looking at you to help manifest this), and I knew the only way to make this next step was to move on from the Clinic (not an easy decision) and into my current Massage & Yoga home pictured here!!! Photoshoot today with the fabulous Make-up Artist Rachel Jones @bprettymua and Guyson Kuruneri @geesunkvisuals on the camera! A big shout out to these two for their warmth, generosity of time, and for their creative work most of all! . . . I've never been one to like having my pictures taken, but they both made me feel relaxed and comfortable the whole time! ... . . . Can't wait to get their photos and add to my new website... stay tuned! See more

I'm getting my space all ready for ya - 2 weeks in advance! . . . Next Yoga and Guided Meditation will be on Monday, January 24th at 8pm for 35 min!... . . . Evening time is my favourite time to teach and practise. There is just something about the conscious wind down from the day and intentional preparation for a restful nights' sleep that makes all the difference to how you feel after a busy/stressful day, how you sleep and how you wake up feeling the next day! It's blending time! . . . Made two essential oil blend concoctions tonight for my newly added aromatherapy massage and soon to come, making my very own Vata Pitta Kapha body and scalp oils. Just playing around until I find the perfect combinations! ... . . . 1. For headaches: 30 ml almond carrier oil, agreeable for most skin types 6 drops of grapefruit (top note) 4 drops of peppermint (middle note) 2 drops of sandalwood (base note) *Great for cooling and soothing that pitta fire :) 2. For a "Pick-Me-Up" 30 ml almond carrier oil 6 drops of grapefruit (top note) 4 drops of peppermint (middle note) 2 drops of ylang ylang (base note) *Great for invigorating and moving that Kapha (water) energy. #aromatherapymassage #aromatherapy #essentialoilblends #pitta #kapha #pittabalancing #kaphabalancing #vatapittakapha

This is an excellent one! . . . I have been searching through Spotify to find some good Yoga Nidra and Guided Meditations, and I came across this one, of many good ones, actually! Lots to choose from if you are curious to have a look. I also like the various Yoga Nidras by Caroline Wirthle. Her voice is just soo relaxing! ... . . . There are many variations of Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep). This one here is a shortened version in that it doesn't go through as much detail in the body parts and doesn't include choosing a Samkalpa (a resolve for healing) which is characteristic of most Yoga Nidra's, but its a great one to start with! You can always add in an intention for healing if you like, as the relaxing theta brain state that is created during Yoga Nidra (the state of consciousness between walking and sleep) is where mind-body healing happens! #yoga #yoganidra #meditation #guidedmeditation #yogatherapy
