Guide tip of the day... Your seat should be set to a height that allows maximum efficiency in your pedaling. This means that when you are sitting in your saddle and your pedal stroke is at the bottom your knee should be extended 90%. This will really help you get up tough climbs and last longer on hard rides. No worries we will help you adjust your seat before your tour with us. We look forward to guiding you. Give us a like, follow and subscribe. Link in bio to book.

Guide tip of the day. Don’t rely only on your phone if you are self navigating new trails. Bring a paper map. If your phone dies or it rains you will be glad you did. If you want to make sure you’re where you are trying to be than you can check out any map or sign along the way. While riding the trails they will be at most trail junctions attached to a post or tree. ... There are lots of trails in Jasper to ride. Some however are much better than others. Horse trails for example can be stinky, muddy, and rough. Climbing up a trail which is meant to be descended is also not fun. Plan before you go, stick to what you know!

We won’t be seeing any more of these in Jasper for the year. They have hopefully all completed their migration south and are soaking up some sunshine. There is never a day in Jasper the same as the one before. Seasons change, animals change, weather comes and goes. Lac Beau vert is constantly changing shades of turquoise and sometimes is freezes. The mountains never get old. It is always beautiful here. I will personally guarantee it.

Did you know... In September 2018 the founder of Journey Bike Guides went on a trip solo bikepacking from Jasper Alberta to the Mexican boarder. During those 62 days she decided she needed to share her expertise and help others explore the outdoors in a similar way. So she started Journey Bike Guides and that’s how Jasper’s premium bike tour company got it’s name. Now she shares her passion with people from all over the world. Life’s about the journey not the destination. Enjoy it!

Guide tip of the day. Weather in the mountains can change quickly. Always dress appropriately and bring an extra layer for when it starts raining or the temperatures drop. Biking will keep you warm but if you have to stop moving you will cool down quickly. Be prepared! Subscribe to our emails, follow us, and check out our website for more.

Guide tip of the day. Grizzly bears, Elk, and many other animals can be dangerous. Never run from a bear, bear spray can be used in emergency’s only. Just remember the bear has to be within ten feet when sprayed and wind must be taken into consideration. At that point you’re already closer than you want to be. Respect trail closures and wild life habitats. Give animals lots of space. Trails in the National Park are usually closed for a good reason. Check your local data base and research information before going out. Check out our website, follow us, and subscribe to our email list for more. Can’t wait to take you for a tour next year!

Guide tip of the day Bunny ears. When you grip your handle bars you should have only one finger hovering over your brakes. Most bikes have mechanical or hydraulic disc brakes and do not require more than one finger to use. This’s will help ensure you can hold onto your grip effectively with the other fingers. If you haven’t already you can adjust your brake levers so they come close enough to the grips for little fingers and the ideal point on the lever is positioned perfectly in front of your index finger. Not sure what I mean? Ask your bike shop to help fit your bike accordingly.

Our Guides tip of the day. The strongest biggest muscles in your body are in your legs. When you are descending stand up with your pedals level. Drop your heels, put pressure into your feet and remain light on your hands. Get low and wide. Death grip and sore hands happen when you rely on you hands to do to much work. You can control your steering and maneuver better through obstacle and trails when your positioning is dialed in.

Do you ride your bike in the winter? This is what it looked like in Jasper yesterday. Some of the animals in Jasper National Park are getting ready for hibernation and so are we. There is a coating of snow on the mountains and the temperatures are dropping. Link in bio to book next years adventure. Journey Bike Guides
