I have been getting lots of questions about wills lately. So here is the scoop on legal wills in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. If your from other proviences you should check your local area to confirm the information is still accurate for you!

We have lost so many this year and it's sad to not be able to be together to celebrate all they brought to our lives and our communities this year. A beautiful tradition that I am confident will return.

Do you need to update your will? Leaving behind an up date will, funeral pre plan, and plan and funds for your executors is just part of good estate planning.

Wills. I have been studying people who dies intestate (When a person dies without leaving a valid will). Don't do this it will cause a lot of problems for the ones you leave behind. What works for wills?... 1. "A holographic Will is the classic do-it-yourself Will. It is a Will that is handwritten. The entire Will must be in the handwriting of the testator; a typed Will with testator’s signature is not accepted as a legal holographic Will. Alberta is one of the provinces in Canada that recognizes handwritten Wills. Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Newfoundland are the other provinces. I find it interesting that holograph Wills do not have to be witness." (https://retirehappy.ca/) 2. Will kits online. Cost is normally under $50.00 but there are strict rules about witness, and what is accepted so be cautious. I like this site for online wills https://www.restassuredplanning.com/wills-and-estates 3. Get a lawyer to right your will. Even if you have very little having a will written by a lawyer will save your estate money and will assist in getting things cleared up quickly. Compare the cost for a will to the value of your estate, then do it. Do shop around lawyers do have specialties although all can do it. Also price shop some will cost less or give you a deal so it's worth asking. JUST HAVE A WILL. If you currently don't have one I would suggest you hand write one NOW and then start calling the local law offices and make an appointment.

For those who lost someone they love this week. You are in my thoughts. May you find peace in the chaos. When those moments when you feel all is lost know that you loved and were and are loved.

We had/ have Purple Shield and it is an excellent plan. You decide how much coverage you want and pay accordingly. Our plan was paid up in several years and then it’s there for us. - Toni Leray
