Happy International Womens Day Norfolk! Our currently featured coffee is the Brazilian Women in Coffee blend. With notes of dried apricote, nectarine and butterscotch this blend is sure to delight every tastebud. "At origin women are more often represented as labourers working in harvesting and sorting and less represented as decision makers or business owners. Which is why we want to shine a spotlight on this coffee blend from Brazil. This new harvest is a combination of 4 different coffees produced by 4 different women with different backgrounds, but all with the same objective: to produce better coffee. Producers are Danielle Fronseca (Red Catuai), Laiz Figueiredo (Mundo Novo), Aline Codo (Red Catuai), and Raquel Joanne (Yellow Icatu). Danielle, is the founder of Flowins, a software developed for coffee producers in Brazil to better manage their crop, and better understand their market. This software is currently growing and reaching more producers within and outside their community. Flowins also allows us roaster to find information about the producer, such as which microlot, the yield, the coffee quality grading, etc. It provides transparency. Every part of this coffee is made by women. From producer, to roasting, and even the label design have all been created by women. This coffee shows that women are increasingly present in the coffee industry, and reflects the power that women have when put together."

A big shoutout to Cagene's Christmas Tree Farm! All year round our used coffee grounds go to Cagene's to serve as fertilizer for their organically grown trees. Thank you for helping us keep the world green. Check them out at cagenechristmastrees.com They are sold out this year, but keep them in mind for next year's tree! They put so much love into their farming and it truely is a magnificent experience for the whole family.

There may be no competition at the fair grounds this year for our highschools, but there is one at joy! Two $100 prizes are up for grabs to the winning highschools. Decorate our scarecrow gingerbread man in your highschools colours. It can be an old uniform, or something you've crafted. Take a selfie with him and tag it #joycafehighschool on instagram to enter. The school with the most selfies with our gingerbread man in their school colours wins $100. The second prize of $100 goes to the school who has him dressed in their school colours by 5pm on October 6th! Keep in mind whatever you leave him in you probably won't get back. Keep it friendly and have fun! Competition starts now and goes till 5pm on October 6th.

On October 10th downtown Simcoe is having a Fairly Fall Festival! At joy there will be a pop-up cotton candy booth by the Gable Brothers @gableconcessions and Lucas Wilson @lucaswilsonmagic will be performing from 12pm till 5pm! We are also putting on a contest for the Norfolk Highschools! There is $200 to be won for your highschools' art department! Stay posted for details!

With masks becoming mandatory in public enclosed spaces Monday, August 3rd, let's have a little fun with it! Starting today and running till Thursday, come in with a decorated mask to enter in a draw for a daily draw of a dozen chocolate chip cookies!

At joy we are happy to be progressing to stage 3. In order to move forward safely we will be adding indoor seating to our "new side" slowly over the next few weeks. Our outdoor seating is available and we will continue with all safety precautions including keeping access to our service counter unencumbered with plenty of space for social distancing.
