Our hearts and thoughts go out to all who have experienced a loss <3 "These small figurines dressed in red caps and bibs honor the souls of babies who are never born. Crowding their feet are toys and snacks left by parents to comfort their children in the afterlife."
#Repost from @blmommymagazine ... She said " When I was diagnosed, I was afraid this moment would never come. That I'd never hold my child, feed him in my arms ...from my body. Now, I hope that some woman who is just being told sees this and knows....there's hope." This powerful mama waited 7 years for this miracle child, she kept one breast so that when he arrived, she could feed him. She'll return to the medication keeping her cancer at bay in 2 weeks, giving up this precious time nursing her child. Was the 5 months worth it? Of course it was. Is it just a myth that our strongest women had but one breast? Amazons swinging off horseback and through the air, wild and pure. Women are warriors; women fight and nurture. Women grind their teeth, tuck their chins and lean into the storm. Women have it in their hearts and bones to continue; we must and so we will. So in awe of this photo titled "A Mother's Dedicated Love", submitted to the Birth Becomes Her photography contest. The strength this mother has and the amount she has suffered for so many years is beyond words.
"With C-section and formula feeding, the baby is not likely to acquire the full complement of the mother’s vaginal, gut and breast milk microbes. Therefore, the... baby’s microbiome is not likely to closely resemble the mother’s microbiome. A baby born by C-section is likely to have a different microbiome from its mother, its grandmother, its great-grandmother and so on. C-section breaks the chain of maternal heritage and this break can never be restored. From that moment on, a different set of microbes will be passed on to that child’s child, to that child’s grandchild, and great-grandchild and so on." "What does an altered microbiome mean for a child’s lifelong health? Causation is still to be proven, but many studies link C-section with a significantly increased risk for developing asthma, Type 1 diabetes, celiac disease and obesity."..... "With formula feeding, the baby won’t receive the 700 species of microbes found in breast milk. The baby also won’t receive the human milk oligosaccharides that provide the perfect food to feed the microbes newly arrived from the mother‘s vagina and gut (if vaginally born). Plus, formula milk is likely to contain other bacteria that are not supposed to be there, for these might interfere with the optimal training of the immune system, with consequences for a child’s lifelong health." https://blogs.scientificamerican.com//shortchanging-a-bab/
