In attempts to help boost the housing economy in Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria, the Canadian government is easing eligibility requirements for first time home buyers under the First-time home buyer incentive program. Bond yields have jumped over recent news of Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine being 90% effective. Because bond yields generally dictate mortgage rates, some are suggesting this may lead to higher mortgage interest rates.
