This is the running weather I’ve been waiting for

JT Run Coaching 07.05.2021

Running into March! I don’t know about everyone else but February kicked my butt - the weather to start gyms still closed, work, and medical things on the forefront. In January I set out a goal to reach 165km...I didn’t do it! I’m learning to follow my own coaching principles, one of which is to not play catch up if I miss any runs due to bad weather, being sick, etc. At week 2 of February I reassessed what was manageable and was able to do three long runs and ended yesterda...y at 151km for the month. I take it as a win because me a few years ago would have tried to squeeze in an extra 15km and would have probably ended up feeling overworked and mentally exhausted too. So, tomorrow marks another opportunity to set new goals and that’s something I can celebrate along with taking on training more runners this month! Remember, if you have any questions or are thinking about getting a run coach you can always book a free consult with me and I’m beyond happy to get you started right now we're full but you can always be added to our wait list for the next opening! Happy last day of February and hope you're running happy

16 km long run today the purpose of a long run is to build on our endurance and is never a race. I aim to run a minute slower per km than my fast pace. Slow and steady, and welcoming the pre-Spring weather! Happy Saturday!

Let’s talk running shoes because I know my stuff and @brooksrunningca knows how to make this girl run happy Brooks is by far my most preferred brand of shoe because of their durability and lightweight feel when I’m pounding the pavement and racking up kilometres. Having the proper footwear is important to avoid injury and the first place to start when hopping on the shoelace express. most running stores will provide an on-site gait analysis so that you’re paired with the proper type of shoe, otherwise you know how to reach me and we’ll figure out what works best for you

Happy last day of the long weekend! I had a weekend of reflection and wanted to share more about what has shaped me as a running coach, business owner, partner, Social Worker - you get the idea. It’s vulnerable but I hope brings you some comfort in your own stories too 1. I have many siblings! Some are half, some are step, and some I gained when I was 14 (I see each of them as my guardian angels) 2. I was in foster care and aged out when I was 21 3. I love to crack jokes... and can’t help having a grin on my face most of the time 4. My hometown is beautiful Fernie, BC 5. I qualified for the Boston marathon twice, hopefully again in 2021 6. I’ve worked in the Social Work field since I was 22 7. I love chocolate, wine gums and Swedish berries 8. I’ve had panic attacks since the age of 6 9. Singing, writing and running are ways I take care during stressful times, but are also ways I celebrate me! Sharing some of these things is terrifying and definitely make my palms sweaty but it’s what make me the person I am today, even the love of chocolate and candy hehe. When I started JT Run Coaching I promised myself I would be super honest and vulnerable about my own story because I acknowledge we’re all incredibly unique and have experiences that have shaped the way we show up. Coaching has brought me more happiness than I thought possible. I have learned so much through the perspective of others also what I’ve seen them achieve. This is something I’ve also witnessed in my full-time job as a Social Worker and motivates me to give myself and others their best chance. As your running coach I’ll always celebrate what makes you, you! While I have many things to be grateful for, I hope you do too, whether it’s having the resilience to push through the tough shit or learning to ride the wave that is life. You all are incredible and inspire me in many ways so from the bottom of my heart thank you for that.

Sometimes you run in the winter and end up with frosted lashes. Other times you end a run looking like Batman. It is what it is

Today was a great reminder that we’re a lot tougher than we think. My favourite part about running is the opportunity to push myself further...even in -26 weather Happy Saturday everyone! Stay warm, stay safe, and keep challenging your comfort zones.

To all the brave warriors out there. The most beautiful people I know and love battle with their mental health everyday. From the outside we cannot possibly see all the pain one has endured. We must talk about it. Lives depend on it. Body, mind, and soul, it all matters. So do you. #bellletstalk #endthestigma #mentalhealthmatters
