Welcome to our new feature Chorister’s Corner! Get to know the members of JVE through their own words, and see why our music making family is the best. This week, our featured member is Jim Colbert. He’s a writer and creative director, husband and stepfather to a 3rd year university student. He’s our steadfast bass section leader, and an involved member of JVE. When he’s not singing, Jim enjoys kayaking, wood-working, home renovations, windsurfing, biking and riding hi...s motorcycle. How long have you been with JVE? Since 1999 I became the first JVE President (for 8 years) after Jocelyn left. Do you have a favourite memory or performance? Doing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Vancouver Philharmonic at Michael J. Fox Theatre in front of a full house was a blast. What keeps you coming back to JVE? Camaraderie and fun performances. Do you have a favourite choral piece? Mozart’s Requiem and Bach’s Magnificat. What are you most looking forward to this season? Because we are a smaller group, we have to work harder than ever on blending, matching vowels and observing dynamics - I like the challenge! See more
Are you ready to dash to our season opener? Nov. 30th in Vancouver, and Dec. 1st in Abbotsford - tickets are available at Eventbrite.

In addition to our wonderful pianist, we’ve got some other incredible musicians (and instruments) joining us for our upcoming concert. Any guesses what this West African drum is called? #concertseason #JVE #canadianchoir
