Notice: The Judique Recreation Association Playground Committee have been successful in fundraising monies for a new playground. Before the work begins on this project, the association is interested in hearing from community residents on whether there may be other projects that are worth looking at, such as repairs of the tennis courts etc. There will be an important meeting Monday, January 11 @7:00pm in the Fire Hall for all community members who would be interested in sharing ideas about improving the tennis courts and getting the building of the playground started. Please tell your neighbours and take a friend to the meeting. We look forward to seeing you there! Working together, we can accomplish great things for our village!
St. Andrews Parish (Judique) will have their annual outdoor Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, Sunday December at 6:00pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the gazebo of the community gardens. Please wear a mask.
Anna Mae’s Reel is a favourite among Cape Breton fiddlers. Anna Mae MacEachern was originally from Black River then married in Judique. She was a piano player a...nd composer, with Anna Mae’s reel and Martha’s Farewell being two of her best known compositions. Jasmine McMorran, a music researcher living in the Valley, has been researching women in Cape Breton music and has put together this lovely blog on Anna Mae and her music. Music & Chores Blog We are sure many in Judique area and beyond will enjoy reading! Check out the full blog by clicking the link below. A PDF of the pictures below is also available for download. She has also written on Joan MacDonald Boes, Ann Campbell-Brown and Sadie MacRae Matheson. https://musicandchores.com/anna-mae-maceachern/

The Judique Community Centre, in cooperation with Leaside Transition House, is holding a Christmas gift drive for Teens In Transit. We have 20 handmade 14’x14’... drawstring bags with matching non surgical face masks, ten for girls and ten for boys, waiting to be filled. Leaside has given a short list of items these 12-16 year olds need.....hats, mitts, socks, pyjamas, books, personal items such as body wash, lotion, deodorant, hair brushes, etc. Also Christmas candy and a small toy or puzzle would be greatly appreciated. Four bags have already been requested and are being filled with gifts. So....there are 16 bags available. There are several ways you can help with this worthwhile cause....-request a bag to fill with little gifts, -if unable to shop make a donation to JCC for the Teens in Transit Gift Drive and we will buy the items for your bag, -buy $5 gift cards from McDonalds, Tim Hortons, Sobeys, etc. These gift cards will buy a lunch for a teen. If you can help please leave your name in the comments section below. Thank you for caring about our teens in transit. Your gift will go a long way to providing a ray of Christmas sunshine to a local child. See more
