HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Finn sums up how I feel about 2020 good riddance!!!! To say 2020 has not been a challenge would be an understatement for sure!!! From floods to asking a 3-year-old to wear a mask in a martial arts class.... One can only hope laws are passed to prevent politicians from ever being able to do this again. It's a basic human right to move around travel and be with loved ones don't matter the circumstances. Judokaa is still here and we actually built a dive center in these crazy times we have a lot still to be thankful for. I know many others are in worse shape and even though my government is asking me to turn them in for a meeting with loved ones I will not be a part of that!!!!! Let's hope 2021 brings a new wave of laws to protect the ones we already had and most of all a complete change in government!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE We would like to wish all the parents and students of Judokaa Martial arts a very merry Christmas for 2020 and a Happy New year We hope that this season finds you and your loved ones happy and healthy. While 2020 has brought unexpected challenges, there is certainly still so much to be thankful for. Judokaa especially wants to thank you for your membership and for being part of our family over 2020. With 2020 coming to an end we wanted to send our mem...bers a message of gratitude and understanding. We are ready to welcome 2021 and are so glad to have you coming with us. There's been no doubt that 2020 has been the most challenging difficult tremendous year we have ever experienced but we have to be thankful for what we have and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and things will return to normal soon I honestly believe that this whole thing has been completely mismanaged and not handled properly at all levels I think the truth is starting now to come out and people will be given the option to make decisions as the economy and businesses are starting to force governments to look to opening rather than closing. Without the support we've had from our parents we would not be still open at this point we're going into 2021 with a fairly healthy atmosphere and a plan to remain to be one of the only clubs open when the kids need a place to come back to train. Always remember my door and phone are open if you need to just chat with someone or need some help getting to the next day. Its always been an honor to play a small part in these amazing kids' lives. Attention: All Members Judokaa is taking everyone's heath seriously and everyone has been excellent scanning temps and signing in but we are going to make one more change just for the short term. Classes are moving to 50 minutes to assure no more than 10 on the mats. During the class changes, we want to assure we don't have people hanging around waiting for the class to start.... IM SO THANKFUL TO EVERYONE for working with us to assure we are following the rules put out. Many are starting to question why Walmart can have a thousand people and not use any of the protocols small businesses are using but it's not up to us. Tomorrow we start club photos for Christmas we for obvious reasons are not planning our Christmas party this year but we want to give the kids something special anyway. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Durham businesses could get visit from COVID-19 'enforcement and education' team this week https://www.durhamregion.com//10284722-durham-businesses/

Mats and the rest of the dojo scrubbed to perfection. We are now taking new members if your looking for some normal back for your kids. No Wifi no stress no internet just a great workout for the kids. We are Covid19 safe (well as safe as anyone can be these days)

Attention Judokaa members After watching last night's class it is imperative at this time that we make the adult class smaller in order to conform to the new policies put in place by the Ontario government. We all know everybody is extremely frustrated with that I'm going to include the email addresses of the so-called leaders so you can email them your frustration with what's taking place here in our beautiful country but having said that we need to change some of our routin...es in order to comply with the new Orange regulations set out. Therefore I think we're going to add a Monday and Wednesday adult program but what we need to assure is that people don't show up for both programs and that the people designated for Monday and Wednesday only train Monday and Wednesday and the people designated for Tuesdays and Thursdays only show up for Tuesdays and Thursdays. So we need your help here I need you to email me back which program would be best for you and I'm in the hope that the program will have a half and half so we meet the standard set forth. If we do this, we'll have some ability to actually grow and at the end of this pandemic, we'll have a very solid adult program that will allow of course training on any night. So for cosmetic purposes let's say the Monday and Wednesday program will be regular Judo on Monday and a technical or self-defense class on Wednesday. The Tuesday and Thursday program will remain much the same as it is now however while sensei Ryan is away due to his surgery we will have other instructors take over that class until he gets back. Please email me over the weekend as we need to have this in place before next week, so we don't end up with bylaw walking in and shutting down the club. This pandemic has really made things strange to actually be concerned with the club growing is a sign of the crazy times and really not my kind of Canada but we have to make sure we're vigilant and do everything we can in order to protect and keep the club safe as well as assure our members are following all the protocols set forth now by the Ontario government. With Covid-19 we seem to have had a complete shift from one of the largest kids programs in judo to one of the largest adult programs at least for 2020. Having said this we owe it to the members to come up with more classes and added perks for keeping us with the doors open and the lights on. We are starting as of this week an adult self-defense program. We have a few ideas that are going to make this unique such as being able to bring your spouse for the training. With Covid... rules, this is a win-win as we can train with people from the same household and at this time they can do all Wednesday classes free. Judo uniforms are also optional and this class can be done in tracksuits or clothing with no buttons or zippers. After a student can demonstrate all movements they will get a certificate. It takes about 9 or 10 full classes to learn all skills. Need more information contact sensei Kevin (905) 626-0300 Classes are Wednesdays from 8 PM to 9:30 PM and yes masks are mandatory still at this point honestly most are starting to get used to training with them and a huge THANKS it keeps your club safer.

Attention: Judokaa Members Over the past month, things have started to get better to the point where I’m able to start to make some plans as well as add another class for the adults. We are also changing the fee cost to new members and offering anyone that has supported us for the past few months with the half fee the opportunity to come back at the old rate.... We have survived to this point when many others have not and at this time we are now planning to open the club to new members as anyone that wanted to come back would have by now and we need the support now of new membership. We know Covid is here to stay and while we respect those that need to stay home and restrict all outside activity with elderly parents or compromised immune systems with schools open it's going to take its course now. At Judokaa we are following all protocols with masks and a ridiculous amount of cleaning and plan to do everything we can to continue to lead the way but we also believe the Covid hysteria has done much more damage than the virus ever will. Judokaa would not be here today without the amazing support of the parents and instructors and we have truly been humbled by the support. While the club has to be run by someone I was shown a long time ago the club truly belongs to the members, not the Dojoshu. We are planning to run some ads now as well as the internet many parents want to bring normal back into the kids and with schools open running a protected martial arts class is no more risk than school is. Canada has really fallen behind other counties in the Covid plan. Japan has a cheap 15 minutes test that parents can do before kids are sent to school. It takes all the guesswork out and has allowed normal back much faster. As Canadians, we should be very upset with the handling of Covid to date and I think that time is going to show that. We need however to work within what faith has given us and continue to push forward. The new rate for all new members is now $100 per month and the new technical adult class is Wednesdays from 8 PM to 9:30 PM is going to be focused on the Judokaa self-defense program and technical judo. Lastly, if your training at Judokaa we need to assure your Judo Ontario registration is paid up to be on the mats. The address to register is located here https://www.trackie.com/JudoON/

Hi Everyone Despite the craziness of the times the club is once again growing and we are even adding the Adult Wednesday class as a permanent class and it will be on today. I have a feeling the schools are going to close all December and if this happens having a place for the kids will be awesome. People are getting used to the masks and I have to thank everyone for the efforts in ensuring they are used as it not only protects you and your partner it also assures the club is ...leading the charge here. I plan to get the diving moving now as well and if you could help that would be amazing. Please share the two ads on social media as well as letting anyone know we offer scuba training as well. Most of the training is online and Covid safe and the pool stuff can be done later and it gives people something to look forward to when in these days that's not very often. The support of the parents has assured us we got through 2020 more than a lot of businesses out there. I think we are going to have a flood at the end of this and might even have to limit classes as parents will need a place for the kids to train and be themselves once again

Self Defense Training This Week for the adult class Hi Everyone I received a few emails and a couple calls about the class on Thursday so I'm going to take this week and continue with the specialized self-defense training. If you want to bring in your wife or husband for the next couple of weeks you're more than welcome.... No need to sign up and it's great martial arts and honestly it's the skills we should all have before we start to work for that black belt in judo. Sensei Ryan has to work this week so I will take advantage of the week and continue the same training but add a lot of the other stuff like the ground skills. If you want to bring someone in your social bubble that doesn't need a Gi this week if they don't have one. Street self-defense can be done in a tracksuit with a strong top with sleeves. Thanks for the calls. It was fun teaching the class. I had no idea a few of you loved it that much!! The truth is the skills shown will work right after you learn them and they don't take too long to master. I look forward to this week's classes. PS: Don't forget to get your Judo Ontario registrations looked after ASAP if you need the details please contact me ASAP.
