Covid Update - March 31, 2021 Judo Nova Scotia wants to pass along an update that was released by the Province regarding easing of Public Health restrictions. As of March 20th, some restrictions have been lifted; this is good news for Judo. It has been a lot of work by the association and clubs to alter and manage schedules on the fly; we truly appreciate it. Due to the easing of restrictions, the Judo Nova Scotia Board of Directors voted to approve club collaboration within ...our province, meaning Judo NS will allow clubs to collaborate with a maximum of 60 Judoka of Matt capacity. The size of the practice surface required for each participant is estimated to be a minimum of 3 square meters. Therefore, a dojo with 60 meters square of tatami surface offers as safe participation area for approximately 20 participants practicing free movement drills at the same time. Although the restrictions have been eased, this does not mean that everything will go back to normal immediately. A lot of difficult decisions have been made already; some of these decisions may be re-assessed. We urge patience and understanding. Any changes or updates from the Nova Scotia Health Association will be re-assessed at any given time. In the meantime, we ask you to continue to follow the protocols of the JNS Return to Play Plan and Public Health. Let’s keep working together to keep our Judoka on the mat and to finish the season strong! Some other update below: March 20th, 2021: Additional restrictions and protective measures are no longer in place for Halifax, Hants, and Lunenburg County locations (restrictions lifted on March 20th, 2021). People travelling between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick no longer need to self-isolate when they arrive in Nova Scotia. They also do not need to complete the Nova Scotia Safe Check-in form.

CoVid Update - March 4th Today the Province announced that they would be removing essential travel only in and out of HRM to allow sport competitions and arts performances. Effective tomorrow (Friday, March 5) at 8:00am, participants and officials in performing arts and sports (recreational, amateur and professional) can gather in groups of up to 60 people without social distancing for rehearsals, performances, practices and competitions within their regular competitive sched...ule. The number 60 must include everyone on the field of play. This involves the players, coaches, trainers, officials ext.-everyone who would normally be needed if it were a regular practice, game, or competition. The 60-person maximum does not include facility or venue staff required to operate the game or performance safely. With respect to the Return to Play Plan - Judo is still operating at Phase 3. The important thing is for everyone to stay safe. Monitor temperatures, symptoms and clean/sanitize frequently. Thanks.

CoVid Update - Nov 24th Today the Province announced further changes to Public Health Regulations related to COVID-19. These changes are applicable to the zone of Western and Central Halifax Reginal Municipality (HRM), which is defined as HRM from Hubbard’s to (and including) Porters Lake and the communities up to Elmsdale and Mount Uniacke/Hants County including businesses. As it relates to sport, the Province will be shutting down all sport activity in this area beginning... on Thursday, November 26th for a period of two weeks, ending on Thursday December 10th. At that time the Province will be re-evaluating the epidemiology and determining next steps. Please note that all Judo Clubs in the HRM region (as defined above) have to cease operation as of Thursday (12:01am). Although this does not currently affect clubs in other regions - we recommend each club make their own decisions with respect to operations. Some regions may continue to operate in Phase 3, others may step back into Phase 2, 1 or temporarily close. Again, we ask all members to be understanding with their clubs. Regions are being affected differently and your clubs will make decisions according to the information they have available to them. This is a challenging time for everyone and we are all trying to do what we love while making sure safety comes first! Let’s hope we can get past this second wave quickly... we will update when additional information becomes available.

CoVid19 - Update. Just a quick note to let everyone know that the board of JNS is monitoring the CoVid situation and will report to the clubs if the provincial government implements restrictions on sports which affect the NS Sport Guidelines. While there has yet to be any scaling back on the protocols at the provincial level, we encourage the clubs to evaluate the situation and make a decision that works best for their club and members. The restrictions have the ability to ...change in a moments notice and we urge everyone to be prepared to tighten their restrictions if they have not done so already. Finally, we ask the members to be understanding with their club as we all navigate these uncertain times. Thank you!
