For anyone Interested in Beyond GDP or the Wellness Economy, this will be a must read. Ron Coleman is a well known and respected voice on this topic, and from right here in Nova Scotia. I had the very real pleasure of meeting Ron, and his amazing wife, at Dalhousie University during a Beyond GDP summit in 2019.
We need to incentivize recycling materials, especially those that are costly to extract. #circulareconomy https://li-cycle.com/technology/
April 18 will be a tough one for many Nova Scotians. It was a harrowing experience for many people across several communities and everyone felt the reverberations and horror that unfolded a year ago. Hold those you love close and be kind ... A province-wide moment of silence will be observed at 3 p.m. on April 18 to honour and remember the lives lost during the April tragedy. A confidential, toll-free line is now open to help anyone in need of emotional support as a result of the tragedy that began in Portapique, Nova Scotia. People can call for free, professional counselling support and/or a referral to resources in their community by dialing 1-866-885-6540. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Medical bias is a well known problem. Long term studies were often restricted to white men and the results applied to women and people of all races. Manuals describing skin diseases where prepared with data on white patients. These diseases look totally different on the skin of people of colour (POC). A new manual has been developed, by a POC, that reflect the differences caused by the amount of melanin in the skin.... We now know that women present differently with heart attacks and now that oximeters are not accurate for black patients. Let’s design our future research studies to reflect the patient population and ensure that the results work for all of us.

This is absolutely shameful ... The Biodiversity Act needed to be tightened up, instead it was gutted and made toothless. We cannot make progress unless there are consequences.
I am so proud that MP Jenica Atwin has presented her Private Members Bill to Parliament for a National ban on glyphosate.
What are you planning for Earth Day? 22 April 2021
Very disturbing that 60% of Canadians have less than $300 left after paying debt/bills per month. We need a Guaranteed Livable Income!
Yup ... I am still a fan of carbon labelling!
In case you missed this story's significance @nseducation - supporting #rapeculture in places of learning life-long lessons is 100% not appropriate. Don't squander this "teachable" moment. West Kings District High School https://www.journalpioneer.com//kings-county-student-say/
This behaviour, reinforcing rape culture, by the school board & administration is what has tarnished the schools reputation. Certainly not the student who bravely called them out on their inaction. If the school had appropriate training and an anti-rape culture, the offensive shirt would never have been worn. That student would have known better.... Double fail on the part of the school administration at West Kings District High School.

Nature and the planet we live on should never be an afterthought. We ALL depend on a healthy environment for survival. It should be seen as the foundation upon which we build a healthy society. I love a quote I heard recently. ... In First Nations World View everything that throws a shadow has a spirit. Everything with a spirit deserves respect.
While every politician alive recognizes the serious democratic flaws of FPtP, this grim situation entrenches the stranglehold that the big parties have on our d...emocracy. And it's unacceptable that the smaller parties, aka, NDP, Greens and independent candidates are again fighting for the scraps left by the bullies rather than working together to correct this through cooperation. Municipalities like Berwick are stepping up to help citizens transition to cleaner energy. This is so good to see. We live in a cold climate and heating is a huge contributor to GHG emissions and the Climate Crisis. Heat pumps are a viable solution for heating in many areas. ... Now we need to clean the electrical grid. So these cleaner solutions are truly clean and green.
