COVID weight, Summer weight, stress weight, holiday weight, put some on, took some off, up a size, down a size... I hear you. And I empathize with you. And, in my job, I literally hear you everyday. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not here to tell you I haven’t acknowledged my Summer weight gain. And I’m not here to tell you not to acknowledge the fluctuations in your body.... What I will say, and something I’m trying to focus hard on, is not to let that weight, gained or lost, predetermine my decisions, actions, and what makes me smile. BODY FLUCTUATIONS ARE NORMAL! Has it been fun drinking the drinks, having the cake and eating the snacks? Hell, yes! If it hasn’t been fun, and you’re struggling to rise above what’s hurting you to see how amazing you are I am cheering you on. Because you are beautiful today and don’t need to explain to anyone where your body was, or where it might be going

As we left the house last Saturday for a weeks staycation I said to Brendon ‘I think I booked too many days off.’ I’ve grown to be quite obsessive during tourism season here on PEI, as it’s normally 85% of our entire businesses’ bottom line. This season put a whole new spin on obsessive...I’ve worked, read, and thought more then I ever have about our current business, new ways to do it, spin it, stay alive, and maintain a positive attitude. Essentially, in the words of Beyoncé, I’ve been ON. I let go this week, spent less then an hour on my phone daily, (was getting up to crazy double digits), spent time with my family, nature, and had more clarity then I’ve had in years about what’s in my pipeline. Taking time off, away, and unplugging works. It works when you least think you can, and it works when you don’t have the time to. I know it’s hard, maybe harder then ever, but if you can make it as essential as your daily grind, you will never regret it. PS- I could have easily tacked another week on!

Personality, size, and trending normalities skew our perception of who we are and what makes us tick. I’ve been working consistently at peeling back some layers, and coming back to my roots. It’s beyond liberating to just be the version of myself I feel most comfortable with, and I support anyone trying to do the same. The train is moving...hop on!

Thanks @kimberly_french and @savannahpei for the love. When these posts come around I always love the sentiment but usually lose track of the moment and essentially forget to post. To the womxn, moms, biz/boss/bad ass babes who are taking care of all the things, putting everyone else first, holding the fort, and the forts of others, doing the dirty work, running the show, taking a moment for themselves at midnight because it’s the first they’ve had all day, and still smiling... because you are grateful for what you have- You inspire me so much, and make the World go round

And we should. Cause anyone in the parenting game knows the tables could turn at any moment

To me (and anyone else who could use this) Where is your happy place? Go there more. Who are your happy people?... Spend more time with them. You don’t need permission. You’re allowed to let go. Don’t forget the feeling after you go to these places, and spend time with these people. Because that’s when you shine your brightest

Far from perfect parenting. I was thinking last night that all my ‘mom guilt’, stress, and frustrations typically lie in not doing what I think we should be doing. Beach, ice creams, nature, fun parks, all while squeezing in work morning, noon, and night, keeping my house in some kind of order, remembering my partner (who also works full time) and having a moment to myself.... I, like so many of you I’m sure can get caught up in trying to do it all. The pressure!! Who the eff can sustain that long term? (If you can plz write a book and drop it to me) So...I’m taking a vow here on SM (I mean, can it get anymore legit) to focus on simplicity and memories made by presence...and patience. Ohhhh the big P word. With my kids, my partner, and myself. And even though I may break my vow, I know I have to saddle up and try again. Because trying is always a step forward @ Park Corner

To anyone getting to see family or friends this weekend, or very soon I couldn’t be happier for you. Being in the tourism/service industry I’ve heard so many stories of loved ones who have had to be apart these last few months. Family members who have not had a chance to meet new babies, and families who have not had a chance to grieve together. Please don’t forget spending time with the ones we love most is always good for the soul. And we all deserve it! Happy bubble day, Atlantic Canada. Stay safe!

Grown adults. Don’t let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t wear based on your body shape, skin tone, or age. Not your partner. ... Not your Mother. Not your friends. Not your pet. (I know you are out there) If you think you need permission from ANYONE to wear ANYTHING you feel good in, that’s on one person, and one person only. YOU. Now, I love a lot of you.
