We are currently in the midst of our fundraising project for 2017, and invite those moved by our projects to join us by contributing. Of our Julia Hunter Fund assets, 62.5% is the original endowment, 25% is accumulated, reinvested income and 12.5% comes from donations from supporters. This last portion is a vital part of our ability to build capacity and to fund new projects each year. In 2017, we contacted 300 people with our fundraising letter, which reviews our history sin...ce 2005, explains our mission and asks for support. All donations are receipted for tax purposes by the London Community Foundation, which holds and invests our funds, and releases them, upon the director's request, to charitable organizations for their use. The standard Julia Hunter Fund application form is available upon request from the London Community Foundation, at www.lcf.on.ca. We welcome all inquiries.

The Julia Hunter Fund was honoured to receive this letter of support from the Hon. Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change: Dear Friends, I would like to thank you for extending an invitation for this evening’s event. I appreciate that you took the time to reach out to my office. However, due to scheduling conflicts I am unable to join you in person.... When I was appointed Minister of Environment and Climate Change, our Prime Minister tasked me with taking the lead in implementing the government’s plan to achieve a clean environment, reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. I am always happy to hear from Canadians who give so selflessly of their time and energy to work toward our collective goal of environmental sustainability. In recent years, the international community has witnessed a concerning reduction in honeybee and other pollinator populations. Available scientific evidence suggests that multiple factors may be at play, including loss of habitat. Tonight’s Pollination Party and the Julia Hunter Foundation’s efforts to create pollinator-friendly gardens in urban areas are important contributions to the London community, and to national and international efforts to establish environmental sustainability. I wish everyone gathered tonight a pleasant and educational evening. Yours sincerely, The Honourable Catherine McKenna, P.C., M.P. Minister of Environment and Climate Change
