Dogs that need hair cuts are not naturally occurring animals. They’ve been genetically modified through hundreds of years of selective breeding, resulting in the many wonderful creatures we share our lives with today. Dogs that require haircuts *cannot survive without them*. Grooming is as basic a requirement as feeding and watering. But, here we are, in a lockdown, where pet stores are open to provide food for our pets, but we cannot get the rest of their basic physical nee...ds met as grooming salons have been deemed non essential. I’ve groomed dogs who had such thick mats on their bodies that they could not walk or turn around to bite me (and they sure wanted to ~ dogs who don’t get groomed frequently, fear for their lives during the grooming process, and behave accordingly as the process is loud and invasive). I have groomed dogs who’s nails were so long, they had curled all the way around to penetrate the foot and continue growing into the flesh. I have groomed dogs with so much fecal matter stuck in their fur, that their rectum is blocked and they cannot defecate. I have groomed dogs with so much sleep eye discharge build up on their faces that the bacteria is eating away at the flesh. I have shaved pelts off of matted dogs, who’s blood vessels had been constricted by the mats for so long that once removed, the blood rushes back so quickly that it explodes through the skin (hematomas). These conditions can result from just a few months of neglect. Please sign the petition ~ link in my bio ~ to have pet grooming services deemed essential!

Very clear instructions. I’m so sorry, guys.

I have been phasing out of pet grooming for two years, now. The truth is, I only groom a few pups who followed me from salon to salon and then to my own setup. I will likely groom these dogs for the remainder of their lives, but am not taking on new clients. I get some interesting replies to this; and to date, I don’t think I single person has congratulated me, or even considered that what may be bad news for them, could be good news for me. You may be frustrated that you d...on’t have a consistent groomer (maybe you moved, maybe you don’t pre book or stay on a healthy schedule so you’re not a priority to your groomer), and hearing me say that I can’t take your pup in, isn’t what you wanted to hear. But if you stop for a moment and consider ME, and maybe ask, you’ll find out... I own two other businesses. One of them brings me joy, offers me an opportunity to heal people and have a positive impact on the world. The other is a channel for selling my art, which brings me joy and soothes my soul. Both of these endeavours have taken me away from grooming. I’ve relocated outside of the city. The concrete jungle was suffocating this feral woman’s soul. I’m now overwhelmed by the beauty of the land around me as opposed to overwhelmed by the unhealthy and unhappy and unnatural surroundings of the city. The pet grooming industry is deeply and intensely flawed. If you’ve known me for a minute or paid attention to my words, you’d have a good understanding of what’s going on and why I needed to distance myself from the industry. Please take a moment to consider others, before you respond to situations or messages or in person conversations. I’m getting tired of receiving sad faces when I convey that I’m not taking on new grooming clients. I’m sorry to have inconvenienced you, but I am truly living out my purpose in this world and *I* am happy and full because of it. I hope that someday you can see past the end of your nose and be happy for me, too
