SEPTEMBER CLAY WORKSHOPS IN MY GARDEN. Make beautiful pots in beauty WHILE ITS STILL WARM! *Socially distanced, hand washing stations and I have a clear mask fo...r myself. I have tents up for shade and lots of space so everyone can muck about and feel comfortable and safe. Here are the details: SEPTEMBER 5 AND 6TH OR SEPTEMBER 26 AND 27 2 Day Hand Building and Throwing Workshop Details: 10AM-4 PM EACH DAY. Classes are for absolute beginners through advanced. Coming from a design background, I instruct every class focussing on form and composition. Lots of fun ways to develop your work as I introduce the elements of design and new ways to interpret the vessel. HAND BUILDING I introduce many hand building skills as we create form in multiples and a variety of scale. I will have slabs of clay ready for you to work with. I will demonstrate quick and easy ways of constructing mugs to teapots to plates. WHEEL WORK If you have never been on the wheel before: I will get you throwing, working hands-on (literally) with you to throw your first-ever pots! If you are intermediate/advanced: I will watch you throw and trouble shoot everything from your ergonomics to your pace. I am happy to demo and teach anything you wish. SURFACE DECORATION We will be imprinting clay, carving and painting. I will demonstrate creative underglaze techniques. So many ways to decorate and embellish your forms! FIRING AND GLAZING Final drying, finishing, firing, and glazing of all student work happens in the studio AFTER the workshop. At the end of the weekend we decide what finish works for each of your pieces and I complete the dirty work for you. Work is generally ready for pick up (or transport as arranged) by students about 2 weeks after the class, depending on the season and studio firing schedule. *I have many off island groups and students....I make easy work of getting the finished masterpieces back to you. $295 includes all materials and firings (bisque and glaze). Each student will make 8-10 ish pieces over the weekend. $200 downpayment required for registration to hold your place. *Non-refundable due to small class size and cost of pre-ordering materials.
