I did this for a number of good reasons, but there is one in particular that I would like to share with you. Every year, Real Estate Centre hosts the most exquisite benefit - a dinner and auction that continuously raises substantial funds for STARS and HALO. For obvious reasons and restrictions, we are u...nable to continue with this anticipated event for 2021. At last years gala, I shared a lively table with dear colleagues and invited guests, Mr. and Mrs. Andy and Stacy Quiring, there to support a worthy cause. A beautiful evening was had, full of great conversation and lots of laughter. 6 months later, the Quirings lost their lives in a terrible and tragic motorcycle accident to which STARS was dispatched. Life is not fair. This world lost a beautiful, loving couple who had many incredible years left to live together with their children, family and friends. Today I made a donation in their memory, but I would also like to make it in someone else's honor; Jen and Spencer Peterson. Jen happens to sit across the office from me every single day, and on the day of that tragic accident, they experienced the loss of their dear friends, the Quirings. And just like STARS and first responders, they did everything they could to ensure a different outcome. No gesture or donation will ever be enough to bring them peace, but I hope it makes them feel love. You know, we are living in a crazy world right now, where not a lot of things make sense. What made sense to me today was making a donation to something so important, that in turn will be doubled. A donation for an organization that like most, won't be receiving their usual gifted amounts in the foreseeable future. An organization that needs to stay in the sky, to be there for the ones we love. So while we can't gather, bid outrageous amounts on auction items and share moments that matter, we CAN share this story in hopes that someone else might feel like a donation feels like the right thing to do. * Thank you for your consideration and for reading this post.
